Associate Scientist - 12 month contract

This one-year contract role is an excellent development opportunity for associates interested in learning more about Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) in the Market.  The role will act as the primary Q&FS liaison for one of the Segments (Food, Pet or MW) as well as safeguarding Quality and Food Safety for all Mars products sold in Canada.  There will be an emphasis on systems (SAP, Nexus) as well as data analysis and trending.

What are we looking for?

• University degree or equivalence
• Project management skills and ability to execute
• Strong Computer Literacy (especially in SAP and, Excel)
• Supply Chain, Inventory management and/or food manufacturing experience is an asset

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Support the Segments by conducting market quality panels, training, and providing recommendations to improve brand and product quality.
• Support Q&FS inventory management including SLOMO, Donations and Destructions
• Support activity management and new product introductions by leading qualifications, risk assessments, and External Manufacturing support. 
• Ensure hold management of non-conforming product within the Canadian market.
• Maintain and support the implementation and compliance of Global Q&FS standards for the Canadian Market Unit
• Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive product quality, cost reduction, process capability and consumer/customer complaint reductions
• Investigate and rectify issues related to quality and food safety through the incident management program.
• Support external business partners including External Manufacturers and Distribution Centers
• Participate in the Mars Canada Internal Audit team and support the 2nd and 3rd party Market Unit audits.
• Support customer requests for information related to Q&FS.
• Review and approve Waivers/Concessions and Change Controls to assess impact on the Canadian Market Unit.
• Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures.
