Job Purpose/Overview

Food safety and process specialist is the SME for the Chocolate and confectionery technology at Pune site and is over all responsible for the governance of the food safety compliances and establishing robust process for various technologies to ensure MARS global standards are consistently demonstrated and implemented in the factory.

FS and process specialist has to demonstrate and live the quality principle and deliver high quality product/high quality service/ high quality work performance.

Responsible to ensuring that lines are running to legal requirements and responsible for delivering projects that generate step changes in the quality and performance of all products produced.

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage the food safety operations for both Chocolate and confectionery to deliver the highest quality products to our customers through systemically quality system and excellent execution

  • Promote quality culture in whole business unit as “Everyone Owns Quality”
  • Support QFS manager to design Quality strategy and KPI set up and monitor.
  • Ensure robust Quality system for full compliance of Mars standards and local regulations.
  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement through end to end Mars product process, Design, Buy, Make, Sell, Listen.
  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement and manages all changes impacting product quality (visual and physical), leveraging process control statistics tools.
  • Support site QFS manager to build and strengthen Quality culture at the site.

 

Context and Scope

 

  • Quality culture build up: Role model to promote quality culture in whole business unit.
  • Quality Culture promotion activity: Daily FMOS meeting with quality sharing; period food safety performance review meeting; quality in action promotion with quality recognition activities, etc.
  • Quality system compliance: Drive the implementation of Mars QMP - Quality Management Process/System and monitor/audit its effectiveness; establish a documented quality management system and food safety policy in all units; Achieve full compliance result with 3rd party LRQA audit and Certification of FSSC22000 v5 and new versions.
  • Regulation compliance
  • Work together with SRA to ensure full compliance of factory operation to any related regulation, and support SRA for market unit regulation compliance.
  • Quality Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities and develop improvement program on quality and food safety.
  • Provide inputs in factory master plan, build annual Capital & OPEX budget plan with prioritized needs and ensure the implementation.
  • Quality capability and engagement: Drive the quality capability building in quality teams at site , quality ownership with capable quality knowledge in Supply team.
  • Quality Support: Work with region and global technical teams to drive the new standard and practices at site in alignment to the quality strategies, objectives, and measures. Support for the quality program, training, cross-audit program and corporate Quality Procedures implementation.
  • SQA Support: Work with supplier quality team for supplier/contractor quality management, material quality management systems implementation.

 

Job Specifications/Qualifications

1. Education & Professional Qualification:

Bachelor degree or above in Food Science, food chemistry or Food Engineering

2. Knowledge/Experience:

Above 5 years QA experience in a reputed food Organization.

The incumbent needs fluent speaking and written English capability, good computer operation and effective communication skill.

Full knowledge of quality system—QMP/ISO9000/ FSSC22000V5 /HALAL, and quality program HACCP/Food Defense/GMP/Hygienic design. Familiar with food safety regulation requirement, Food process technology, Lab management; good skill on setting up quality control standard and procedures.

 

Key Functional Competencies & Technical Skills

  • Food Quality/ Food Safety system knowledge: ISO9001, FSSC22000/HACCP, GMP/GHP and Sanitization design
  • Food regulation knowledge: Food safety regulation, Halal requirement
  • TPM QM Pillar management knowledge; Good skill for Problem solving and troubleshooting
  • New product project (quality) management
  • Good Presentation skill
