The Assurance Compliance and Risk (C&R) Director is responsible for coordinating and defining the optimal cost-effective design for BSI Assurance technical licenses to operate (e.g. accreditation's) at a global level, reviewing our approach regularly due to evolving regulations and local markets demands.

The Assurance C&R Director manages BSIs global accreditation's and supports the local C&R teams in maintaining all relevant local accreditation's. The Director is responsible for the development and maintenance of BSI Assurance internal management system (BMS), including its technical rules and procedures, which incorporate the minimum requirements from Accreditation Bodies for all the global certification schemes. This involves the development of the various product /schemes manuals. The role involves developing BSI’s accreditation strategy to define and implement optimal solution, whilst continuously reinforcing BSI reputation and stimulating profitability of the certification business.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Ensure that BSI Assurance internal management system (BMS) is developed to meet business needs, accreditation bodies, regulators and clients requirements, is simple to understand, is optimized to drive efficiencies, and is effectively implemented Ensure the development of an effective risk management framework covering the Assurance business, and its interfaces with other business Streams and Sectors, that is appropriate to the Assurance Executive risk appetite Lead the development of an Accreditation strategy to drive a lean business structure at the same time assuring access to relevant markets and sectors Manage effectively all global accreditation's for the Assurance Business Stream, proactively maintaining the relationship with the global Accrediting Bodies (ABs) Identify upcoming evolution of regulations and ensure adherence to changes in standards and accreditation requirements.  Alert the Assurance Executive and their reports on the business impact and organizational implication Provide support and guidance to prevent and resolve technical, impartiality and compliance issues in relation to license to operate which may affect BSI reputation Work in conjunction with the sub-stream leaders to maintain significant links with external stakeholders (governments, trade bodies, and accreditation bodies) to represent and protect BSI’s interests Functionally oversight the regional C&R Directors and managers and working together build the next resilient generation compliance and operations teams at regional and country levels that are business and client oriented In conjunction with the local C&R teams ensure that regions and countries maintain their global and local accreditations and adhere to the requirements of the BMS Determine the technical competency requirements for Assurance personnel and input the specification to the associated necessary internal training and provide oversight of deployment
Report on compliance issues to the sub-stream leaders, including the performance of the management system and any recommendations for improvement Provide technical input on IT systems that support compliance (PG/SAP/SFDC etc) Contribute to the innovation agenda for Assurance as part of the leadership team in co-ordination with the Group Innovation Agenda.

Requirements for the role:

To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate a track record of delivery in a role, within a matrix organisation.

You will have extensive knowledge of accreditation process and requirements with extensive experience in and detailed knowledge of Systems Certification, Product Certification and Training and their key products.

Alongside this you will have:

  • Demonstrable general management experience at senior level
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage the relationship with accreditation bodies at international level
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others across the business in an interdependent role as part of a complex matrix in a global business
