Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in analog/digital circuit design, layout design and validation plan arrangement .
  • Experience working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and the audio analyzers (Sound Check or Audio Precision etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Matlab, or Python coding skills to develop automated test tools for objective audio testing
  • Hands-on experience in acoustics design, microphone (MEMS & Electret), and speaker characterization and testing
  • Working knowledge of sound mixed engineering, stereo recording, binaural recording, and spatial recording, etc.
  • Working knowledge using an audio amplifier (smart PA, class G amp), audio codec, and audio DSP (voice processor), etc.
  • Working knowledge of audio analysis software, Adobe Audition, and also familiar with audio DSP algorithms (Digital filter, and DRC etc.)
  • Ability to use the industry standard schematic capture tools and Layout implementation of responsible subsection

You are a smart and highly motivated engineer who will help design the next generation audio and acoustic systems for Google Pixel phone. You will be involved in the complete life cycle of the product including audio component selection, audio system design, digital signal processing (DSP) tuning, and manufacturing support. You have expertise in the evaluation and implementation of codecs, amplifiers, microphones, and speakers.

Responsibilities

  • Design the audio subsystem (analog and digital audio circuit design to meet section requirements) and participate in system design reviews.
  • Bring Pixel phone design to mass production by setting factory test requirements, assisting in software bring up, traveling on-site to the manufacturer to ensure the design is built and tested successfully.
  • Provide validation testing to ensure performance and worst case analysis of circuits in area of responsibility.
