You will lead the Operations function at local level, with full accountability of running the day-to-day Operation and to overachieve customer expectations through lean, faultless operational execution (Care, Customer, Cost, Cash), in an extended value chain and at the lowest total cost. This is an Auto OEMs Operation Manager role, reporting to the Local Division Manager in Business Area – Robotics & Discrete Automation located in Shanghai, China.
Your responsibilities
- Being accountable for all local business area QO functions are properly organized, staffed and directed. Building an effective, capable and high-performing organization. Developing talent, reviewing organizational effectiveness, performing competence assessments and continuous skill-upgrades across the Local Business Areas (LBA).
- Being responsible to execute a customer-focused Operations strategy for the LGB/Local Business Area/Site, derived from the overall business and functional strategy developed for the Business Area/Hub and being accountable for its relentless execution.
- Being accountable for a sustainable and effective E2E value-chain for the LBA, from Customer to Supplier and from Order to Delivery (Products, Projects & Service). Being accountable for the effective deployment of the respective Procurement and Logistics strategy for the LBA. Being responsible for project execution from order to service. Establishing and running an effective S&OP process for the LBA, accountable for its results.
- Owning and delivering LBA-level RELEX KPIs in line with ABB expectations. Delivering 4C targets for Operations: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity. As applicable: deploying and managing Integrated Project Management system for Project Execution and being responsible for on-time/on-margin project execution and to deliver project EBIT and cash.
- Being accountable for the effective deployment of ABB’s Quality strategy for the LBA. Being responsible for Quality assurance, Quality control and for the implementation of an integrated quality management system for the LBA.
- Being responsible to champion a culture of Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement across the organization. Being accountable for the development and continuous improvement of business processes and procedures, and of the overall customer satisfaction for the LBA.
- Being responsible to ensure master data excellence for the LBA. Being responsible to deploy BA/Hub manufacturing technology and engineering process standards for the LBA. Being responsible to establish governance mechanisms to drive and ensure compliance for the LBA. Adjusting Engineering and Manufacturing resources with workload – optimize use of Global Operating centers – as applicable.
- Being accountable to deliver COGS savings and all other Financial performance KPIs for the LBA. Being accountable to define and deliver the annual budgets for CapEx and OpEx expenses and to effectively balance installed-LBA capacity with customer-demand and workload.
- Ensuring compliance with global and local standards, rules, policies and procedures related to Operations/Project execution. Aligning with the respective Group, Divisional, BA and Hub policies, being responsible to introduce LBA-wide standards and guidelines, standardized processes, and KPIs and being accountable for operational risk management, validating and improving reliability and effectiveness of business operations.

Your background
- A bachelor’s degree in Automation and Mechanical Engineering, and/or Business Operations.
- Must have 5 years of working experience in Auto industry and 5 years of experience in operation management or project management.
- Broad technical knowledge in Auto industry and CI or Opex experience is considered as plus.
- Fluency in English both in oral and written.
- Must have effective analytical and communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to provide effective management leadership. Develop and motivate highly diversified employee team.
- Must be result orientated and have high degree of desire to achieve objectives.
