What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join our Process Simplification and Automation (PS&A) team to help drive productivity through the company leveraging technology to unlock opportunities to stop, optimize processes and then automate as appropriate

Responsibilities:

• Build out automation engineering practices, standards, community by provide technical leadership to engineers creating a new culture around the automation demeanor
• Define automation platform architecture and features roadmap
• Lead selected efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concept (POC), automated solutions and services. Quickly and iteratively prove or disprove the concepts being considered.
• Structure and standardize processes that can be leveraged across the various automation platforms for scalability, efficiency, and growth
• Ensure that automation platforms adhere to Amgen corporate, GxP and SOX compliance requirements,
• Synthesize requirements from clients, customers, or end-users to develop and deploy features across platforms that enable development of automation solutions.
• Build re-useable components that can expedite process to delivery
• Lead the technical design, development, testing, implementation, and support of key projects implementing automation related solutions.
• Develops and maintains policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the platforms
• Promotes the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve how information flows

A day in the life:

• Service as liaison on Automation architectural board helping champion appropriate solution for the problem
• You are leading from the front engaging with business functions across the company to identify bottlenecks in their business process using technologies and architectural frameworks
• Design automation using the automation framework leveraging wide array of technologies.
• Work in a team of automation engineers of internal staff and suppliers to drive these outcomes
• Provide demonstrations & articulate the significance of Process automation leveraging RPA, Cognitive or native capabilities of PaaS such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Salesforce, Service Now etc.
• Help provide inputs into the technology roadmap in Automation space

The Process Simplification and Automation team is part of the Digital technology and Innovation organization at Amgen that is focused on helping improve staff experience, unlock productivity and improving quality leveraging technology to identify inefficient processes, foster simplification of processes and help automate these revised processes to unlock value. This is a highly visible team with a remit to help shape the future pipeline of Amgen products by unlocking value

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

Or

Master’s degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Associate degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting business process analysis with business owners and SMEs across multiple geographically disbursed teams.
• Experience performing and documenting business processes redesign and aligning business requirements to technical solutions
• Experience writing and publishing internal white/position papers, user documentation, SOP’s, and architectural specifications.
• Knowledge of ITIL Service Management framework and TOGAF Architecture framework
• Process Automation and Engineering experience delivering value
• Continuous improvement approach (i.e., LEAN, Kaizen, etc.)
• 3 - 5 years’ experience designing, developing, deploying, and operating automation technologies and end to end automated solutions/platforms across SaaS, Cloud and On-prem
• Experience doing full stack development would be a plus
• Experience in and certifications for leading automation software platforms (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Power Automate, Blue Prism, Celonis etc.) would be a plus
• Experience in designing and architecting machine learning, OCR, and NLP solutions
• Data analysis and reporting experience by using analytics, visualization and database technologies is a plus
• Good understanding of native cloud computing, design, development, and security patterns for AWS
• Possess knowledge of enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Salesforce, Service Now, SAP)
• Ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of new platforms, languages, tools, and technologies
• Strong customer service focus with the demonstrable ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, partners, and management. Demonstrate strong collaboration across all levels of the organization. Assertive and confident in raising action points with senior individuals with excellent spoken and written communication.
