Position Overview: Automation Technician will be primarily responsible for set up, troubleshooting, repair, and development of automated systems In this function you will: Perform tooling changeovers to automatic assembly machine and verify function, machine capabilities, and part conformance Interpret blueprints in order to verify conformance of parts to prints using measuring instruments to validate automated processes and equipment Interpret electrical schematics with strong troubleshooting skills and PLC controlled equipment Work with robots, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), vision inspections systems, pneumatics, and photo-electric, laser and proximity sensors. Set up and operate metalworking machines such as vertical mills, lathes and surface grinders to fabricate or modify parts Build custom automated equipment with guidance from the Design & Innovation team by fabricating parts, wiring electrical (to include panels), plumbing pneumatics, and final verification of function and design intent When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Associates degree in automation technology, automated machinery systems or similar vocational training or equivalent work experience. At least 2 years in a Manufacturing environment Ability to read & interpret Mechanical Blueprints, electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of the work location to be considered. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge in PLC controlled machinery. Experience with photo-electric, laser and proximity sensors. 3 -5 years’ experience working on automation equipment. Experience in press & stamp manufacturing in a production environment Position Criteria: Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with coworkers and management Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision Mechanical/Electrical training.
