B2B Marketing Manager, Commercial Intelligent Devices Group (IDG)
LenovoMorrisville, north carolina, united statesUpdate time: February 8,2021
Job Description
Position Description:
Lenovo’s iconic ThinkPad brand is the best-selling business laptop of all
time. Over the last 15 years, Lenovo has relentlessly innovated and tested
devices to deliver on our promise of purposeful design and trusted quality.
Do we engineer the best laptop for business? We have no doubt about it. We
have been successfully marketing ThinkPads to IT departments globally for
years. But we are embarking on a new journey: to reinvigorate the ThinkPad
brand amongst rising influencers in the workplace. This is where you come in.
Our commercial marketing team is looking for someone who can build ThinkPad
brand affinity with Millennials and older Gen Zers. We need someone with
proven experience in purpose-driven marketing, digital marketing,
partnerships, and a bold vision that they can execute via our soon-to-launch
@ThinkPad handles. We have an unbeatable portfolio, a global marketing
powerhouse, and industry partners dedicated to helping us drive a ThinkPad
reimagination. We need someone at the helm to define what ThinkPad will mean
for influential Millennials – and then bring that vision to life.
The B2B Marketing Manager will oversee a multi-million dollar marketing
budget. Within this, you will create digital content campaigns, manage product
placement on TV shows and movies, and innovate 360 degree co-marketing
programs with Intel, Microsoft, and Millennial brands outside of the tech
industry.
This is a global and cross-functional role, driving a critical piece of
Lenovo’s $50B business.
Marketing Experience: 5 years minimum required. This experience can be from a
media, creative, experiential, or digital agency, or in-house on the client-
side. You should be able to explain the importance of the customer decision
journey and describe how you have successfully targeted customers in the past.
We are looking for someone who understands how to reach target customers in
unique ways, based on segment and market trend research. Strong metrics-based
planning skills are a must. Paid media background is a plus.
The Power to Convince: You need to be able to sell. You will have a few
different audiences to effectively persuade. 1. When you brief your creative
agency on a project – it will be your job to motivate and inspire their best
performance with a thoughtful creative brief. 2. When you create your ThinkPad
marketing strategy, you will need to demonstrate how your plan will deliver
results for our marketing teams around the world. 3. You will need to create
a 360-degree marketing campaign that resonates with your target audience and
inspires a change in their attitude towards ThinkPad.
Metrics-based Planning: Each marketing initiative will need to be developed
with clearly defined goals (what are we looking to achieve and how will we
measure success). The ideal candidate will demonstrate how they have set and
delivered on KPIs (key performance indicators). They will need experience
reading metrics reporting, analyzing results, and translating insights into
future action.
A Creative Eye: As you guide marketing projects with your creative agency, you
will need to provide feedback on strategy, adherence to messaging, partner
compliance, and brand voice. But you will also need to have an eye for what
will creatively resonate with our target audience – and still fit within
Lenovo’s visual identity. It will be critical that you can provide creative
feedback on everything from video angles to talent wardrobe to creative copy
in order to achieve a compelling final product.
Project Management: In the world of tech, things move fast – and change is
frequent. You will be managing a creative agency, as well as a group of global
marketing stakeholders. You need to have keen project management skills –
being able to be flexible and adjust course while keeping forward momentum.
The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, prioritizes well, and
over-communicates with stakeholders.
Excellent Communicator: We need an exceptional communicator. This means
communicating expectations, potential problems, key information to your
manager. This means effectively delivering feedback to your creative agency in
a way that corrects them but maintains motivation. This means being able to
drive meaningful conversations with your global marketing stakeholders:
explaining your strategy and collecting their feedback. And yes, this applies
to emails, phone and video calls, chats, and (eventually) face-to-face
meetings.
PowerPoint & Excel Guru: We communicate nearly every strategy and plan in
PowerPoint, so it’s required that you can construct clear slides that visually
explain your ideas. Basic Excel required in order to manage and report on an
annual budget.
Motivated Self Starter: We don’t micromanage on this team. The perfect fit
for our team is someone who loves to learn, asks questions, meets as many
people as they can, leverages their resources, and problem solves in creative
ways. At Lenovo, we support those who innovate and take measured risks.
What You'll Do
• Work with global marketing stakeholders to create highly engaging,
strategically focused campaigns that drive awareness for Millennial and older
Gen Z audiences.
• Champion new ways to reach and drive conversations with Millennials/Gen Z
via social and on digital platforms.
• Be the central communications point to the GEO marketing team for all
ThinkPad brand related marketing activities.
• Ensure design, branding, and tone are consistent across all integrated
campaigns
• Work closely with ThinkPad Product Marketing Manager to align consistent end
to end ThinkPad messaging.
• Onboarding and management of a variety of agency partners
• Ability to quickly build consensus among the GEO organizations and business
partners and stakeholders.
• Track and report on ROI and other metrics regarding overall marketing
performance.
• Ability to be flexible and handle new task quickly and decisively.
• Partners management (Intel & MSFT) and POP (proof of performance) process
for reimbursement
• SOW management between procurement & Agency
• Work closely with the ThinkStation and Solutions marketing teams to drive
joint engagements where required.
• Manage and report on an annual budget
