Job Description

Are you ready for a challenge? In this role you will manage and be responsible for the overall performance of the business unit. Within the scope of Manufacturing Test Engineering, certain product lines will be allocated to your BU and your responsibility will span from handover to mass production untill end of life cycle both in normal production and repair lines. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to identify their needs/requests and ensure that those are met. You will be overall accountable for the performance of the BU defined by KPIs.

Responsibilities

- Be the primary point of contact in MTE OPS for products under your responsibility to local teams as well as counterparts in Redmond

- Understand and define requirements for operations in focus reviews for projects in development

- Own and implement the handover checklist document for projects going into MP

- Accountable for the maintenance, repair, calibration etc. of all the testers/fixtures/equipment under your scope as well as manage the spares and consumables requirements

- Manage the operational side of large-scope projects, involvement from DV build to mass production

- Serve as technical lead in resolving complex issues during mass production builds

- Work with internal manufacturing Engineering teams, Factory management, Quality management and MTE development teams to identify manufacturing test processes to meet product design

- Partner closely with the Engineering teams and Quality Engineering (SQE) team during all phases of mass production and STR signed off products.

- Collaboratively work with MTE Dev PM teams to help improve test solutions with cross-functional teams input to ensure manufacturing related defects are detected prior to product shipment

- Team up with MTE project leads for smooth handoff of the product to the MTE Operations team in mass production state

- Drive and manage CMs and define SOW and expectations through scorecard

- Work collaboratively with Imaging team for regular OS refresh activity and provide high level timeline, plan, resources and status of projects affected.

- Manage ECO reviews and release to factory (CM/RnR)

- Manage MCRB/Deviation assigned

- Work bugs assigned with the cross functional teams and update affected teams

- Lead the line audit activity

- Responsible for controlling the OPEX and CAPEX related to the BU and managing the budget

- Ensure that documentation for all activities run in the factory by operations is kept up to date, reviewed and properly followed

- Work closely with the factory teams to ensure that MTE requirements are understood and properly implemented

- Accountable for all terms and conditions mentioned in the SLA, propose changes to SLA as required

- Responsible to drive improvements in the factory by defining and implementing a score card, regular reviews and follow-up action plan

-  Accountable to measure performance by constantly tracking KPIs and driving for better efficiency 

- Engage in innovation activities and work proactively to involve the factory teams in such Kaizen projects

- Scope and drive improvements through cross-functionally run projects that are visible and add value  

- Regularly provide updates to senior management on the operational performance of the BU in the core areas of Cost, Quality, Safety, Efficiency etc.

  

Qualifications

- Should have previous experience of working as an Operations Manager in a contract manufacturer/factory for a minimum of 5 years

- Should have previous experience in the manufacture of laptops/tablets/gaming devices etc.

- Should have people management experience, team size of atleast 10-12 people

- Manufacturing Test Engineering experience preferred

- Ability to communicate in Mandarin preferred

- Bachelor's degree required, electrical/mechanical engineering preferred

- Attention to detail

- Ability to write excellent process, flow and able to translate into a work test instruction

- Ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize workloads

- Knowledgeable in bug/task management is a plus

- Previous test development field experiences is a plus
- Critical thinking with the ability to foresee problems and suggest solutions

- Problem solver who knows how to effectively use tools like Fishbone analysis, 8WHY etc.
- Strong follow through skills, experience in managing projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and be proactive
- Strong PC Skills (MS Office, including Excel), PLM
- Ability to learn custom computer system

- Fluency in Mandarin very desirable
- Knows how to simplify decision making by combing financial acumen with product knowledge
- Detail oriented product operations professional with a mindset for continuous innovation
- Adapts to change and is able to seamlessly handle multiple tasks and priorities
- Highly collaborative, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
- Must maintain a positive, optimistic and open-minded approach
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the business
