Intern/Bachelor Thesis: Automated Analysis of SELinux Policies (f/m/d)
BMWUlmUpdate time: November 23,2021
Job Description

We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting bachelor thesis on the topic of post quantum cryptography for automotive head units. SELinux is a mandatory access control system used on Linux systems for mitigating security vulnerabilities. Based on a central policy, the kernel restricts permissions of applications. Ideally this policy should only grant permissions that are really required and thus follow the principle of least privilege.  This can be a quite tedious task and yet a single missing permission can make applications unusable. Due to that, developers tend to grant more permissions than required. In your work you should develop tooling to automatically analyze SELinux policies to support policy development.

What awaits you?

  • Be part of the development team which brings the State-of-the-art security technologies into the future generations of BMW headunits.
  • Get in touch with modern security technologies.
  • Implement tests and new features for our projects.
  • A steep learning curve on Linux Security related topics.

Please note that you must ensure that the thesis is supervised by a university.

What should you bring along?

  • C / C++ and / or Python.
  • Basic Linux Knowledge.
  • SELinux knowledge would be beneficial.

Are you enthused by new technologies and an innovative environment? Apply now!
