Banquet Captain

What you will be doing:

• Ability to organize, communicates, and leads the team to a successful event.
• Motivate staff and create a positive, cohesive team to deliver exceptional service. 
• Captains to maintain a positive supportive leadership role at all times
• Captains to have full availability
• Captains to assist with beverage/bars/area when needed
• Captains to assist with all inventories including bar beverage
• Maintain complete knowledge of hotel standards as well as departmental standards.
• Knowledgeable of correct use and maintenance of all equipments. 
• Cleanliness and organization is the responsibility of all employees for all banquet area space 
• Full understanding of all banquet menus and beverages specified by the group. 
• Being flexible and ability to quickly respond to client needs. 
• Ability to focus and pay attention to all details of the event.   
• To effectively and efficiently supervise the staff to ensure successful banquet events from beginning to end.
• Responsible for training staff and maintaining a high level of performance according to hotel standards and ensuring all staff is adhering to service standards, company and departmental policies/procedures, etc.
• Should be ready to assist at any time to ensure optimum service to our guests. 
• Knowledgeable of daily features and activities within the hotel.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times. 
• Ability to follow directions from the clients and Banquet Director
• Ability to execute banquet events with minimal supervision from beginning to end
• Attend meetings if needed directed from Director of Banquets

Your experience and skills include:

• Banquet serving experience required.  Past banquet captain experience preferred.  Past supervisory experience preferred. 
• Any previous culinary training, a plus.
• Food Handler Certification required.
• High school graduate, some college. 
• Minimum of 18 years of age to service alcoholic beverages to guests. 
• Certification of alcohol awareness program, training in food, wine & liquor service preferred.   CPR certification preferred. 
• Ability to communicate in English to management, co-workers, and to the guests understanding. 
• Ability to provide legible communication. 
• Ability to use Micros and manual systems. 
• Organizational skills to lead a team to a successful event. 
• Ability to utilize Micros, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.

• Must be able to lift minimum weight of 20lbs. 
• Capable of working consecutive hours without sitting down. 
• Ability to lift and carry trays and ovals.
