Banquet Server (casual)

As Banquet Server at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire (managed by Accor), you will have the perfect opportunity to touch the hearts of our guests by making their special occasions truly unforgettable. This position will require availability for evening shifts on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

What you will be doing:

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service to all guests in a variety of settings, including plated and buffet banquets for breakfasts/lunch/dinner, working lunches, coffee breaks, cocktail receptions, formal evening events/galas/weddings, and off-site catering events
• Serve all food and beverage items for assigned banquet functions
• Explain banquet menus to guests, assisting those with special dietary needs or preferences as well as providing suitable assistance when recommending beverages
• Have full knowledge of all beverage lists and all menu items being served
• Clear and reset function space, as well as ensuring service areas are clean and tidy
• Assist with function room setup and tear down as specified by meeting organizers
• Follow all policies, procedures and service standards, including health & safety and food handling procedures
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. The schedule for this position will primarily be AM shifts.

Your experience and skills include:

• Previous customer service experience is required, with previous food & beverage and/or banqueting/catering experience preferred
• Must hold valid Alberta ProServe certification 
• Must be physically fit with the ability to lift heavy items (trays, chaffing dishes, etc.)
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
