Purpose of Role

 

This centralized role will be responsible for building superior biddable media capabilities for multiple brands in the Mars Petcare portfolio, leading national biddable media strategy and execution across a variety of programmatic media partners (including Google, Verizon Media, Amazon Advertising, WMC, etc.) and social media partners (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.), all with a focus on driving to conversion. The role will be responsible for defining and rolling out scalable solutions, best practices and frequent learnings to advance Mars Petcare biddable social & programmatic media efforts across key brand initiatives, including the identification and implementation of new high value audiences, dynamic creative optimization, and more. The Assoc. Manager for Biddable Media will be responsible for managing, improving, and crafting ways of working across agency partners, media vendors, brand teams, and other internal cross-functional stakeholders. In addition, the person in this role will seek to increase efficacy of biddable social & programmatic media via ongoing analysis and optimization of programs, streamlining processes, benchmarking, and developing and leading structured test & learns, as well as conducting education and training for brand teams and other key stakeholders.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Creation and ownership of a holistic biddable media strategy and its execution (in collaboration with agencies) including recommended tactics for each individual brand, based on business goals and communication objectives  
  • Provide regular media consultation to the brand teams and other cross-functional internal and external partners on all matters related to biddable social & programmatic media
  • Manage planning, execution, and optimization of biddable social & programmatic media campaigns for multiple active brands within Mars Petcare portfolio, in close coordination with agency partners, including:
    • Lead agency partners in identifying appropriate investment levels  
    • Lead implementation of biddable social & programmatic media best practices
    • Prioritize optimizations to drive greater effectiveness and efficiency and eliminate overlap, redundancies, and inefficient investment
    • Collaborate with CMI, agency partners, media vendors and measurement partners to identify, develop, and implement test & learns for biddable social & programmatic media, and then package/present the results (including via Learning Agenda progress recaps, in-campaign reporting and frequent share outs with brand teams, global partners and cross-functional partners)
    • Partner with agency to report biddable social & programmatic media performance on a quarterly basis through a quantitative scorecard, to gauge learning agenda progress, and to help the brand teams and marketing directors understand performance and recommended actions  
    • Author monthly performance reports to Sr. Media Manager and Director of Marketing Operations, communicating overall progress, and highlighting any priority initiatives
  • Lead development and implementation of educational sessions, playbooks, and position papers to build marketing department capabilities and ensure proven solutions are scaled to deliver best-in-class performance
  • Craft strategies and tests to gather learnings against emerging biddable social & programmatic trends, and push innovation agenda with our strategic media partners (ex. Verizon, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon)
  • Share best practices and learnings with other Biddable Media Associate Managers as well as counterparts in different Mars segments and markets, to spread biddable social & programmatic media knowledge & capabilities across the Mars Inc. organization

 

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, listening). This includes ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management.
  • High levels of interpersonal skills, specifically in the area of influencing, resolving conflict, and creative problem solving.
  • Proven effective biddable media expertise, ideally within an agency or multi-brand environment
  • Proficient in managing complex projects.  Well organized, good at prioritization, attentive to details.
  • Biased toward action.  Takes initiative, entrepreneurial, can hit the ground running and move projects forward right from the start.

 

What are we looking for?

  • 3-5 years’ experience with biddable media (strategy, partners, tactics, etc.)
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Media analytics exposure/support
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of prior biddable media experience, preferably within the Consumer Packaged Goods industry and at a major agency
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience partnering directly with brand marketers to advance biddable social & programmatic media initiatives
