In this vital role you will join our research team in studying biochemical and bioanalytical characterization of antibodies. You may be given the responsibility to oversee a small research team that is responsible for high throughput affinity ranking of large antibody panels against many diverse antigens. The goal of these characterization efforts is the selection of a lead panel of potential drug candidates at the initial stages of the development of a human therapeutic.

This is a permanent role that offers potential for advancement and career development. Successful candidates must be able to work onsite at our Burnaby, BC office and will have:

  • extensive knowledge of different affinity determination methodologies and the experience to understand the appropriate application of these methods to different target classes

  • enjoy laboratory work and provide leadership and mentorship for our research site in their field of expertise

  • possess an enthusiasm for tackling difficult research challenges and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D. and postdoc in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with 5+ years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • A track record of scientific accomplishments in the biophysical characterization of antibody interactions with soluble and cell-expressed antigens.

  • Broad knowledge of different affinity determination methodologies and their application including Kinetic Exclusion Analysis (KinExA), Bio-layer Interferometry (ForteBio Octet) and surface plasmon resonance (Carterra, Biacore).

  • Deep understanding of bioanalytical techniques and analytical methods for Ab molecules to identify molecule liabilities (Ie. Tm/Tagg, viscosity)

  • Demonstrated history of strong hands-on capabilities, problem solving, and independent experimental design and execution

  • Familiarity with antibody discovery processes would be an asset

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Track record of management experience with the ability to inspire and grow a high-performing team, chart and set team goals into action, and forge productive cross-site collaborations with partner functions
