Position Summary:
The APJ Technical Sales Director role is responsible for leading and developing a comprehensive commercial strategy (direct and channel), profitability objectives and achieving sales results for the Biosciences business in the APJ region for the Molecular Biology, Sample Prep, Cellular Biology, and Protein & Cell Analysis businesses including custom services and OEM.
The role is mainly responsible for accelerating the growth in complex sales environment where expertise and specialization are required.
They will also be responsible for defining the most effective product and solution strategy according to the regional markets in Asia, Pacific & Japan, and ensuring the commercial organization in the Region is fully aligned and capable of executing this strategy. This individual will be responsible for the accelerated growth of the portfolio under their leadership. The revenue is approximately $400M in size.

By bringing experience in a global matrixed organization, the individual will champion their team in the global/regional context to affect positive outcomes in alignment with the broader business objectives. The individual will assimilate and leverage Thermo Fisher tools, infrastructure, and operating principles into the business, while building a regional business strategy specifically leveraging our key capabilities.
Position Summary:
- Accountable for developing TSS team’s ability to achieve performance goals.
- Implements management processes that ensure consistent, timely and successful execution of the sales team’s strategies and objectives.
- Develops short-term & long-term Biosciences Commercial business plans for businesses in the region in conjunction with Marketing and Sales Operations functions.
- Offers regional input into various business units to facilitate a greater understanding of the global life sciences business.
- Has full responsibility for the achievement of revenue plans for the portfolio including direct sales channel, Territory Sales Specialist, eBusiness and any distribution channels.
- Accurately forecasts quarterly revenues. Ensures that the group remains within the expense budget.
- Builds a high-performance team by hiring, developing and engaging highly talented and motivated employees.
- Identifies innovative and creative ways to protect the core businesses. Promotes productivity and teamwork within the Business Units and across Biosciences.
- A key member of the APJ BID leadership team, driving collaboration to ensure achievement of growth objectives and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrates and champions core authentic leadership behaviors. Promotes diversity, including with respect to experience and thought leadership.
- Continually looks to improve the sales processes, people, and sales coverage within the business. Employs and embraces continuous improvement with our Practical Process Improvement methodology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Biosciences selling organization.

Position Specific Criteria:
- Minimum 10 years people leadership and direct experience selling advanced scientific technologies.
- Deep depth of scientific understanding
- Demonstrated proficiency in delivery of business strategy and business reviews.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Willing to travel extensively up to 70%
