Location/Division Specific Information
The Biosciences Account Manager, Boston Metro position is part of the commercial organization supporting the Biosciences Division portfolio which includes reagents, instruments, and consumables from across the division’s six business units: Molecular Biology; Protein and Cell Analysis; Antibodies and Immunoassays; Synthetic Biology; Sample Preparation; and Cell Biology.
Based remotely in Boston Metro area.
How will you make an impact?
Working with customers, you will provide unique solutions that enable breakthrough discoveries, solve complex scientific challenges or meet routine testing needs. You'll have responsibility to drive revenue growth and overall customer satisfaction within top strategic pharmaceutical accounts in the Greater Boston area.
What will you do?
- Manage sales processes in assigned geography in accordance with approved sales and marketing plans.
- Understand and use product features, benefits and applications along with selling and business-building skills to successfully promote and complete the sale of products and services to achieve or exceed the assigned territory sales plan.
- Drive business development at assigned major customer call points to penetrate and grow current and new business.
- Achieve the territory sales plan by maintaining existing business, developing incremental business in existing accounts, and conducting cold calls to develop new accounts.
- Develop, write, and execute a business plan for managing assigned territory annually, updated quarterly.
- Develop presentations and customer proposals for supply agreements, supply contracts and preferred vendor agreements with assistance from DM, Marketing and Technical Sales Specialist.
- Host and assist product shows either at assigned accounts or locally on a routine basis.
- Set up and coordinate technical seminars by internal customers such as Research & Development, Marketing and Technical Sales Specialist.
- Maintain and increase current customer database through Customer Relations Management software (Siebel CRM).
- Utilize data sources to analyze and capitalize on territory opportunities with the greatest ROI.
How will you get here?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field of study.
Experience
- 3 years of sales in biosciences industry, or life sciences industry, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of Cell / Molecular Biology and Genomics;
- Knowledge of the biotech and biopharmaceutical industry;
- Experience with customer contact, relationship management, teaching or public speaking in the industry;
- Development and execution of strategic sales plan
- Demonstrated proficiency with Customer Relations Management Software; and
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
