Duties 任务：

The main function of this post is to be an adult presence in the House and to be responsible for the safeguarding, welfare and security of pupils by assisting the Head of Boarding and his team in the supervision of the health and welfare of the boarders.

(4) First Aid certification desirable but not a must. Upon appointment all matrons undergo specific Safeguarding, First Aid and Security Training, Food Handling Certificate and Fire Marshal Training. Other training will be provided on an on-going basis.

Responsibilities 职责:

The job may involve any or all of the following specifications. Above all, there is an expectation of a parent figure who is generous with their time and responsive to the needs of the boarders.

The post requires someone who likes and understands young people and is able to demonstrate common sense. A sense of humour and an even temper dealing with all situations in a cooperative and sensitive manner are also fundamental to carrying out this job effectively. The nature of the work requires physical fitness, a good level of stamina and the ability to climb a large number of stairs.

Main responsibilities include 主要职责包括:

(1) The physical care and security of the pupils.

(2) Providing an adult presence during agreed hours and cover emergencies.

(3) Provide emotional support to boarders where necessary.

(4) Assist in the smooth running of the House.

(5) Work closely with our School Nurses to support health needs of the boarders are met, and to ensure that adequate considerations are made for medical emergencies. In cases of chronic illness that require medication, the matron will need to be the primary care giver and to dispense medication as instructed.

(6) Work closely with the Facilities, Operations and Security departments to ensure that the facility is maintained in good order on a day to day basis.

(7) Oversee overall hygiene levels of the facility and the boarders, including regular inspections of rooms

(8) To take a significant role in the recording, monitoring and following up of pupil attendance and punctuality.

(10) To assist in dealing with Lost Property and to help in the management of the laundry service (checking that students have labelled laundry bags as instructed etc).

(11) To be a listening ear for pupils and to be responsible for answering the telephone when required.

Working hours 工作时间

This is a role that requires the applicant to live on-site and dedicate ideally three weekends every month during the school term (190 days a year). During the school term, the matron would be expected to work 40 hours a week, with relatively flexible hours during the weekdays.

Dulwich International High School Suzhou (DHSZ) is a selective, English-medium, co-educational four-year high school. Our students are highly motivated and learning focused which makes it a delight to teach them. The majority of our 750 students are PRC nationals who will pursue their university studies at excellent universities and colleges outside China. To this end, our students opt out of the Chinese education system at the end of junior middle school to follow a curriculum leading to IGCSEs and A Levels.
