About Baxter’s Cleveland, MS Facility:

Cleveland’s technology and automation is cutting edge.  It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles, glass IV, and various reconstitution devices.   This facility produces a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling, injection molding, tubing extrusion, and device assembly. About the Position:

The Boiler Supervisor must manage/supervise Boiler Room Operations/personnel.  The supervisor must also implement/manage projects related to Boiler Room and related utilities including but not limited to energy conservation, electricity, process compressed air, potable water, Reverse Osmosis System, Chlorine Injection System, Steam production/transmission, and water for injection (WFI).   This role also must ensure that the Boiler Room and these utilities are operating at the most cost-efficient level. Furthermore, this position must ensure all projects/areas of responsibility comply with local, Federal, State, and Corporate specifications/regulations.  This position will report to the Facility Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Supervise/Lead Boiler Room personnel to accomplish project/area objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement activities.
  • Interface with plant and corporate groups as well as contractors and vendors.
  • Manage start-up, debug, and commission of new utility equipment/processes.
  • Equipment life cycle management including: upgrades, replacement, and decommissioning
  • Provide technical support/troubleshooting to all Boiler Room Operations
  • Demonstrate proactive communication and problem solving.
  • Responsible for supporting and achieving value improvement/energy projects.
  • Responsible for adhering to FDA Design Control standards at all times.
  • Responsible for adhering to and maintaining all department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and forms.
  • Lead project teams and personnel as needed to accomplish project/area objectives
  • Manage capital projects (develop and maintain schedule as well as estimate and hold to budget)
  • Program utility controls/monitoring systems using industrial processor (Allen-Bradley) and Scada systems
  • Facilitate appropriate maintenance training for facility employees including but not limited to safety, cGMPs, job skills, JIB’s, etc.
  • Assure work orders and PM’s are performed in an efficient manner and reported as required
  • Support all environmental, health and safety programs, as well as all other plant activities
  • Support all plant activities, i.e. VIP, TPM, 6-S, Lean, plant growth and development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Required (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical)
  • 5+ years Engineering / Facility experience. FDA manufacturing preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interface well with personnel of all levels
  • Must be able to work and facilitate a team-oriented environment
  • Must possess problem solving skills utilizing cause mapping
  • Must have strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must have demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing setting and prioritize responsibilities
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret scientific and statistical data
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Office applications
  • Lean Manufacturing/6s experience is preferred
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to bend/stoop
  • Ability to reach above the shoulder
  • Ability to maneuver around tight spaces
  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Working knowledge of facility utilities such as steam, potable water, chilled water, cooling water, HVAC, and compressed gases is preferred
  • Working knowledge of energy conservation is preferred
