Job Description
Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group) is looking for an organised, methodical and motivated Editorial Assistant to join our Humanities, Media, and Arts Books Editorial Team. You will work closely with colleagues across the company who provide support to research community in enhancement of publishing top-quality Chinese research output in English under Routledge imprint. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a thorough introduction to the academic book publishing process in a demanding role where the assistant will be working on a range of academic books in Humanities and Social Sciences.

What you'll be doing:
Your job responsibilities may include the following but not limited to:
- You will provide administrative support to the Commissioning Editors.
- During the book proposal process, you will assist the Editors in sending proposals for review, drawing up author contracts and chasing reviews in.
- You will provide pre- and post-publication care to authors, including chasing authors to deliver manuscripts, providing guidance on manuscript preparation and submission, advising on permissions and copyright queries, and checking and preparing manuscripts for transmission to production.
- You will be responsible for keeping author and project databases up to date and sending gratis copies to authors and contributors.
- The Editorial Assistant also acts as the main point of contact for numerous authors and internal departments.
Kindly note that this is not a writing/journalism/copyediting position.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to self-manage own workload
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise workload
- Excellent team-working skills, and a collegiate approach to working
- Calm and logical under pressure
- Good at troubleshooting, solution finding and decision-making
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong command of English (oral and written)
- Highly professional in all conduct
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programmes
- An interest in academic publishing
- Previous publishing experience would be an advantage but not necessary
