Eaton’s Electrical Sector - Canada is currently seeking a Brake Operator position in EPC (Edmonton Power Centre) to join our team. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB location. Position Overview: Reporting to the Production coordinator on the night shift this position is responsible for the manual and automated operation of the large bending brakes to perform one of the fabrication operations necessary in producing parts for production. This position works closely with our Electrical and Mechanical teams to optimize workflow. ***Please note that this is a Monday through Thursday position working from 3:30 pm to 2 am. The shifts will be 10 hour shifts and eligible for overtime after the 10th hour. There will be a $1 dollar per hour shift premium assigned for this rotation. Training will initially be provided on the day shift for 2-4 weeks at the commencement of employment (Monday to Friday from 7am to 330 pm). In this function you will: Operate the machine in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety rules and using all safety guards provided Pursue and implement the Eaton Value and Philosophy Statements Adhere to ISO9001:2015/EQS quality procedure/work instructions and actively participate in the quality improvement process Maintain a positive commitment to the prevention of pollution and protection of the environment fulfilling environmental health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the MESH program Maintain a positive commitment to the safety of self and others identifying and reporting any hazard(s) in the workplace using the Hazard Identification Form; reporting any near misses, incidents, injuries, events resulting in lost-time, or occupational diseases immediately; using equipment, materials, and machinery only as authorized, and for which training has been successfully completed; following procedures and wearing personal protective equipment as required Act as a positive role model and support change actively participating in the implementation of the ELSS tools, working unscheduled hours as required, providing guidance and/or mentoring to less experienced co-workers Participate in the Cost Improvement Program looking for, discussing, and recommending better ways to do things Actively participate in department meetings discussing issues/opportunities, sharing information Meet daily production targets maintaining production flow, recording jobs completed and reporting issues preventing compliance Actively participate in Continuous Learning cross-training, gaining new skills, refreshing prior skills (e.g., moving across lines/product lines/machines, preparing for new work opportunities) When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Completion of High School or GED equivalent is required at a minimum. Specific knowledge brake press or machine operations/change parameters/bend sequence Knowledge of tooling Ability to read blueprints, bending drawings and layout drawings Preferred qualifications: Forklift/overhead crane certification considered an asset. Position Criteria: Working knowledge of the mechanical or electrical processes within a manufacturing facility is ideal. Knowledge and experience with hand and power tools. Effective communicator and interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written communication, and listening skills. Ability to work independently and multitask, as well as in a team environment. Demonstrates continuous learning through cross-training, learning new skills, and refreshing prior skills. Good analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Promote and assist in the effective implementation of Eaton’s Safety programs and processes. No Sponsorship.
