Job Description

Office: Capital Planning Department, Strategy & Planning Division, HA Head Office
 
Pay
HK$52,722 to HK$79,606 per month (including Monthly Allowance)

Job
The appointee will assist Senior Managers, Managers, Employer’s Representatives and the Consultant Team in the project management of major capital works projects with technical advisory support. Major duties are:

  1. Assist in leading site technical staff in managing and tackling all day-to-day building related matters.
  2. Provide technical assistance on management of major capital works projects.
  3. Assist in monitoring progress of site works and controlling of works materials and workmanships.
  4. Provide technical support to project works in relation to all building works.
  5. Supervise and monitor the performance of contractors and other parties.
  6. Coordinate with Safety Officers of contractors, Safety Auditor of consultants and other parties for monitoring site safety.
  7. Maintain a site record of the daily activities on site and submit monthly returns to relevant parties.
  8. Assist in preparing and submitting inspection and progress reports and monthly summary.
  9. Carry out routine inspections of the building works / building service works and check for conformity with the drawings, specifications and contract requirements, and report all unsatisfactory works.
  10. Assist in administering defects and outstanding works.
  11. Monitor all environmental, health and safety aspects of the contractors’ works. Report all non-compliance of safety procedures immediately to the contractor’s representative and the project team, and record this in the site records.
  12. Work according to duty roster, attend emergency calls and perform typhoon duties.
  13. Perform any other duties as required to facilitate implementation of capital works projects of the department including site supervision of construction works.

 

Requirements

  1. A Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Studies or Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering from a Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent.
  2. 7 years of relevant experience.


Preferred Attributes/Exposure

  1. Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).
  2. (a) Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE. OR
    (b) Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE.
  3. Formal training in occupational safety and health.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  5. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
  6. Outgoing and able to work under pressure and stressful situation.
  7. Knowledge of other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, Internet/Intranet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office applications, etc.)
  8. Practical experience in public works projects.
  9. For Building Services Inspector
    (a) At least 4 years of working experience in the capacity of Assistant Building      Services Inspector, or equivalent; and
    (b) Registered electrical worker, class B, as registered in the list of EMSD.


Remarks
For All Applicants

  1. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
  2. Selected candidates may be required to work in shifts and/or irregular hours in different offices and/or project sites, depending on services/operational needs.
  3. Appointment will be on contract terms for 2 to 3 years.  Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
  4. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.
