Job Title: Solutions Consultant Function: Commercial Family: Solutions Consulting Job Level: P5 Job Grade: 8 
 
Overall Purpose of Role Performs a variety of consultative and sales support services to cultivate, obtain, and retain customers by helping them understand how SDL products and solutions can help achieve their business goals.  Applies deep product/solution and sales expertise in supporting the sales function in driving revenue growth. 
 
Key Responsibilities  Operational Excellence –  Works closely with sales teams to develop sales opportunities by providing pre-sales product/solution specific expertise such as: preparing product/solution presentations, conducting demonstrations, developing product/solution specific collateral.  Helps sales and customers understand the features and functions of the solution and how these support to customer’s needs.  Supports the sales team in RFP responses.  May provide post-sales support (e.g., “go live” support).  Works collaboratively with the sales team to organize pre-sales activities (e.g., demos) and ensure activities are aligned and coordinated.  Delivers Quality, Value, and Results – Helps to improve the customer experience and satisfaction by educating customers on product/solutions and how they can address the client’s needs.  Demonstrates how SDL product/solutions add value to the customer by ensuring he/she has a clear understanding of the customer’s needs and by presenting technical information in a way that the customer can understand and apply to their business.  Captures customer feedback and “pain points” to the sales team and supports the team in identifying ways to address.  Functional Excellence – Actively seeks out information and learns about the latest developments within their assigned product/solution area.  Actively participates in external forums to stay current in area of expertise (e.g., conferences, trade shows, and professional associations).  Shares information and knowledge with broader sales and product management teams to help improve overall effectiveness.  May support the creation of customer training programs by providing customer feedback and learnings from customer interactions.  Relationship Building – Develops strong working relationship with sales team by collaborating and working closely to support customer initiatives and sales activities.  Builds customer confidence by demonstrating an understanding of the client’s needs and “pain points” and demonstrating how SDL product/solutions can address these areas.  Builds external networks by attending conferences and trade shows.
