We are looking for someone that understands the importance of protecting our stakeholders against the risks related to a business disruption and has the experience and skills to establish, implement and test business continuity programs to reduce these issues. 

This role is in the Insurance Solutions Group at Airbnb within the Finance organization. The Business Continuity Manager will work with other teams throughout the company to identify, quantify and mitigate risks associated with large-scale disruptions. Responsibilities include enhancing our Business Continuity framework, governance and plans and working with our Technology, Community Support and Crisis Management teams and to establish and continually improve a holistic business continuity management program. As Airbnb continues to evolve and grow you will have the opportunity to build resiliency into our operations and to validate our readiness through periodic testing of the plans that you have helped our business units to create. As the primary ambassador for business continuity you will be responsible for communicating risks, issues and overall progress to senior management. 

 

Duties &  Responsibilities

  • Work with third party consultants as needed to execute business impact assessments so we accurately prioritize business continuity efforts
  • Maintain and enhance global business continuity management plans or runbooks in order to allow business units to resume operations within agreed upon recovery time objectives
  • Assess and improve resiliency programs related to third party suppliers to understand their recovery capabilities and to align these abilities with business unit requirements
  • Collaborate with Technology function to ensure alignment of disaster recovery and business continuity efforts and to raise any discrepancies to management for resolution
  • Establish and report key metrics for periodic reporting to senior management 
  • Conduct periodic exercises, define and manage corrective actions to enable continuous improvement
  • Coordinate business continuity programs with crisis management, emergency response, incident management and enterprise risk management functions allowing for a unified understanding and management of potentially disruptive events
  • Manage business continuity audits and assessments conducted by regulators and other third parties to ensure compliance and minimize regulatory  impact to businesses 
  • Identify and support risk control efforts to reduce likelihood and severity of potentially disruptive events
  • Provide business continuity training to all levels of the company to increase awareness and support more comprehensive planning throughout the organization

Requirements & Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field 
  • 5+ years of business continuity experience including development and leadership of BC function, business impact assessments, exercises and reporting
  • Strong program management, organizational and communication skills
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Able to quickly understand business processes and communicate effectively with a wide range of business process leaders
  • Experience creating and delivering effective presentations, including to senior management
  • Technical knowledge to coordinate effectively with Technology teams that will build disaster recovery plans for our SaaS, on-premise and hosted software environment
  • Thrives in a startup environment: loves dealing with fast pace, changing needs, and limited resources
  • May involve some travel and limited activities outside of normal work hours

Preferred:

  • Certification (such as CBCP) preferred
  • Experience in cloud-based technology company
  • Experience with business continuity in call centers
  • Experience with loss control and enterprise risk management
  • Experience auditing/assessing business continuity programs and/or responding to internal/external business continuity audit requests (e.g., Internal Audit, regulators, customers)

 

The starting base pay for this role is between $118,000 and $148,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as education, experience and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits and Employee Travel Credits.
