Job Description
*This position supports the entire Industrial Sales territory in the United States and thus could be located in any part of the US close to a major airport. Siemens Industry, Inc. has an opening for a Business Developer focused on our Industrial Identification & Locating (SIMATIC RFID, OID and RTLS) business. This role is responsible for developing new opportunities and growing the business targeting end users in all relevant vertical markets. The Business Developer will identify new markets and provide expert consultative support on technical and commercial topics to advance, win and successfully execute projects. In collaboration with Presales, this position will also develop and orchestrate relationships with internal and external stakeholders and support the identification, nurturing and closing of opportunities. This role will report to the Head of the Identification and Location business in the USA and work closely with the go-to-market team including Sales Specialists, Product Marketing, Presales and Project Engineers. Responsibilities: Outward focused, customer oriented and self-motivated Business Developer driven to: Focus and identify end customer opportunities for RFID, OID and RTLS solutions and develop them towards successfully closing the business. Provide consultative support to sales team, solution partners and end customers relative to RFID, OID and RTLS solutions. Analyze market potential and define go-to market strategy to enter new industries. Identify internal and external sales channels, develop new and existing partnerships and define strategies to target end user accounts. Support the different sales channels to close identified opportunities. Support and facilitate “knowledge transfer” for customers as well as value added partners. Manage utilization of Presales consultants and Project Engineers for complex technical applications as needed. Work with Product Marketing Manager to implement marketing strategies and programs to target end users in focus markets. Provide input for product development requirements/launches as well as competitive intelligence. Analyze potential customer requirements, market trends and competitor business. Serve as the primary point of contact for Siemens’ localization systems. Required Knowledge & Skills: Education: BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of industry value chain and typical work practices with end users. Experience in competitive account conversions. Knowledge about the processes in logistics or industrial manufacturing. Understanding of localization technologies and their use cases in industrial applications. Ability to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously. Outward focused, customer oriented. Self-motivated individual - internally driven. Ability to influence without authority. Proven ability to build trusting relationships with sales (interpersonal relationships). Technical knowledge in areas like radio technology, IT or automation engineering as well as database knowledge. Candidate must have sales experience and basic knowledge of IT and PLC based industrial automation solution sets and architectures. Understanding of RFID, OID and RTLS technologies and their use cases in industrial applications. Ability to demonstrate the value of Siemens’ Identification and Location product line and our unique differentiators (Product knowledge and presentation skills). Ability to manage multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously. Typically 5-10 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above.
