Job Description
Operating across the entire APAC region, since 1984, we are a reputable boutique management consulting & training company (WOFE) based in Shanghai, Minhang district. We offer Organizational Development, Change Management, business simulations and executive coaching services, as well as Action-learning focused trainings in leadership development, cross-culture, and related topics. These trainings are primarily offered via in-house corporate interventions, but public trainings are available occasionally as well.
We are a small international team working in a, sometimes, dysfunctional yet, always, highly productive environment. Do not expect high rise glass tower offices, and a very hierarchical structure as we are a pretty flat, project-driven, organization.
We have an immediate opening for an energetic and experienced Business Development Manager with previous experience in the professional services & training industry in China to help expand our company’s exposure and reach, and to help grow our client base. The successful candidate should be target oriented and be able to work on their own without much guidance, as well as know when to involve our senior technical consultants in the sales process, for support.
The successful candidate is expected to:
• Sell in-house corporate trainings programs and consulting services to clients.
• Increase revenue from our public trainings by maximizing paid registrations and number of public sessions.
• Develop a list of prospect companies, make cold calls to their training, learning, HR development or Organizational Development departments to introduce our company’s offerings, setup meetings, and follow up in order to eventually win training or consulting business from them.
• Be willing to drive and meet with clients in Shanghai and other cities around China as needed to present our company products and services.
• Develop and maintain an organized database of client contacts, actively maintain communication with them, and report weekly updates to the Founding Partner.
• Develop and maintain a pipeline of business opportunities and report to the Founding Partner on a weekly basis.
• Be able to prepare proposals and quotations.
• Collect payments from clients against trainings and consulting engagement completed.
• Make recommendations regarding product offerings, mix and company website based on customer feedback.
Compensation includes a basic salary ranging between RMB 6,800 and 10,000 (based on experience) PLUS commission & bonuses on training and consulting interventions sales, as well as transportation allowance and benefits.
Skills
Candidate must have:
• Previous experience in selling professional services and training in China
• Excellent command of written & spoken English, and native fluency in Mandarin Chinese
• Excellent presentation & influencing skills
• Experience in developing compelling PowerPoint presentations
• Ability to develop efficient weekly reports & stats in Excel
• Ability to develop quotations and proposals
• Ability to follow up with clients to generate leads and sales
• Ability to track all correspondence in CRM database
• Experience in researching and developing business prospects on their own
• Ability to work on their own without much guidance
• Ability to work with in a small yet highly international work environment
• Only Mainland China nationals will be considered for this role
