ABB's Robotics and Discrete Automation business is writing the future of flexible factory and smart machines by providing value-added solutions in robotics, machine and factory automation. You will support the local Business Area/Product Group by focusing on defining and implementing marketing and sales strategies specifically aimed at developing into markets, segments, or other strategic areas not currently defined. You will also ensure the definition of the business plan, annual marketing plans, and marketing strategies according to budget. This is a Business Development Manager, CSSR role reporting to the Sales Manager in the Business Area - Robotics & Discrete Automation located in Shanghai, China.
Your responsibilities
- Contributing to local Business Area/Product Group strategy definition and execution through the analysis and identification of new markets, segments and/or product solutions. Analyzing customer needs for the portfolio, securing customer advantages and benefits as well as white spot analysis and connected strategies to penetrate the market. Developing and implementing business strategies for newly defined areas in alignment with the Business Unit/Product Group strategy.
- Providing market intelligence analyses in support of identification and development of new markets, segments or solutions. Participating in internal work groups in order to share knowhow, processes and market information.
- Identifying, leading or contributing to identification and acquisition opportunities to expand into the newly defined area. Collaborating with all related internal contacts to ensure alignment, efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of the commercial strategy.
- Coordinating product marketing launch development plans and ensuring efficient and effective execution together with the Area and Regional Manager.
- Identifying partnership opportunities and participates in the definition of partnerships agreements together with local Business Area.
- Participating in planning and implementation of customer events and trade shows.
- Ensuring budget (volumes) and profitable growth targets are achieved in the respective countries and for all assigned Product Groups. Ensuring achievement of targets on orders, net price variance (NPV), Net Promoter Score (NPS), etc.

Your background
- University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Marketing or Business-related fields.
- Above 10 years’ experience in sales related roles in manufacturing industries.
- Fluent in English.
- Self- driven, organized, outgoing, technically versed and proactive personality.
- Effective presentation skills, strong customer orientation and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, proven track record of delivering results and strong orientation to bring things forward.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications with the advanced Excel and Power Point skills.
