Eaton’s Electrical North American Sales division is currently seeking a Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and Digital Business Development Manager to join our team. This position is based in Canada. EATON ELECTRICAL is hiring a knowledgeable, collaborative, and passionate Senior Business Development Manager to actively drive and manage sales, business development opportunities, and the technical aspects of selling EATON ELECTRICAL ’s Distributed Energy and Digital Solutions basket of products including services & turnkey projects associated with renewable energy adoption and distributed energy resource management. In addition, this role will act as a bridge between the client operations and IT team, Eaton technical sales consultants and subject matter experts, and third-party technology providers – in bringing together software solutions that translates the client business problems to technical software requirements and ultimately a software solution. The focus of this role will be on “solutions” design, and business development for the region, which are an integrated package of Eaton content, Eaton digital platforms, third party products and software technology and Eaton equipment with associated implementation/customization. The DER and Digital Solutions Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer and partner relationships, helping to close sales pipeline, and creating programs that will drive market share leadership and dramatic revenue ramp for the company with customers in the utility and commercial & industrial sectors. To succeed, you must have strong track record of supporting sales growth, utilities market awareness & relationships, a keen eye for technical details, and a passion for delivering Digital and Energy Transition offerings Responsibilities BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Grow and develop new sales and Business Development opportunities to support EATON ELECTRICAL ’s Energy Transition and distributed energy resource integration and microgrid strategic growth plan. Lead Eaton technical sales engagement with clients in the utility industry (Crown Corporations, Investor-Owned Utilities, municipalities (LDC’s), cooperatives) for outcomes, consultative and solution selling opportunities. Be able to articulate the solution to C-level executives as well as technical operations teams for clients. Work with the technical sales consultants and proposals team within the region, to develop software value propositions for key utilities stakeholders: executives, operators, finance leaders and IT leaders, and also be able to put together compelling proposals for Eaton software solutions. Lead and manage new customer accounts. Assist with product development efforts by gathering Voice of Customer feedback and project specifications to advise respective engineering and product line teams. Develop relationships with consultants, designers, end users, specifiers, utilities, EPC, developers and systems integrators focused in software and the energy transition infrastructure markets. Eaton & Partner Sales Development Leverage contacts with Eaton’s existing sales organization to develop longer sales cycle opportunities. Be recognized as a thought leader in these emerging markets. Develop external relationships with key partners including reps, EPC’s, Energy Developers, and other key players in these emerging markets. Annual Growth Plan for direct sales, channel, and partner sales Develop a broad network of software technology providers, stay current with latest technologies in the utility space Technical Sales Engage Prospects in technical sales aspects of EATON ELECTRICAL ’s Energy Transition basket of products including services & turnkey projects associated with renewable energy adoption, digital solutions and distributed energy resource management. Site Walks and initial project scoping. Interact with design and build partners, project developers, EPC firms, utilities, commercial and industrial end users. Position Eaton value through our software content: position appropriate Eaton software products, services, third party technologies as part of a software solution that fits the client needs. Account Executive Manage prospects, maintain, and improve key customer relationships. Help Eaton sales organization with RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses for EATON ELECTRICAL solutions related to Energy Transition offerings. Provide effective communication and status updates to all internal and external stakeholders. Respond to RFP documents, put together solution requirements and design, system customization and configuration, align service offerings and ultimately be the client’s point of contact for maintaining the software solution roadmap. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: University degree in a STEM field. Minimum of 8 years of electrical sales or electrical engineering experience. Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license. Must be able to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) License or CET designation. Minimum of 8 years of expertise and experience with the power distribution and controls industry, developing and deploying, microgrids, power distribution, power quality and control solutions for utility and commercial and industrial markets. Minimum 5 years of technical sales experience with contemporary software technologies like cloud/SaaS, AI/ML, edge computing solutions, analytics software packages and cybersecurity. Minimum 5 years of outcomes selling, consultative, selling experience to executive and technical buyers. Minimum 5 years of experience developing and translating business use cases to solution requirements and architecture documentation, with focus on electrical products, solutions, software and services, ideally in the utility industry.
