Tax and Trade are responsible for Worldwide Tax Reporting, Trade, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process functions to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and trade functions.  There are seven major functions within the Tax Department - Corporate Tax Compliance; Indirect Tax; International Tax and Transfer Pricing; Tax Affairs; Tax Planning and Controversies; Tax & Trade Process and Technology; and Tax Provision.

 

 

The Business Process Manager is a member of the Global Process Owner (GPO) – Indirect Tax team which sits in the wider Tax and Trade Process and Technology function.  The position will be responsible for supporting the global indirect tax team across reporting, reconciliation, audit defense and analytics. This role will also have responsibility for managing and driving new legislative requirements across the indirect tax reporting toolset as well as supporting the Indirect Tax and Reporting & Analytics GPO’s in identifying and driving key improvements as it relates to process and systems for global indirect tax.

 

We operate in a matrixed environment – building and support each other’s requirements while leveraging each other’s strengths. As such this position will interact daily with stakeholders and team members across the organization – Tax and Trade, Finance, Engineering, and Operations.  

Responsibilities

Support global indirect tax reporting run and maintain activities including:

  • Management and delivery of audit defense data requests
  • Onboarding of remaining data sources to the indirect tax reporting solution
  • Ensuring data quality standardization across all reporting solutions
  • Minimizing reconciliation gaps to ensure reporting is best in class\

Project management of backlog/intake requests to support compliance operations and strategic initiatives related to the indirect tax reporting tools. Specific tasks include but not limited to:

  • Backlog grooming/prioritization
  • Requirements gathering
  • Design review
  • End to end testing support

Represent Indirect Tax as a lead on the Reporting & Analytics Integrated Project Team (IPT) and collaborate across theintegrated team to deliver system and tool improvements

 

Manage the communications cadence across the extended indirect tax reporting stakeholder group

 

Develop automation and analytical models leveraging MSFT or 3rd party tools to support the indirect tax function

 

Identify and action areas for process improvement, teaming with internal/external stakeholders to implement processimprovements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Tax, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Project Management or another related field. MBA, CPA or other advanced degree is a plus
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with emphasis on data quality and analytics, tax reporting and compliance, or account reconciliation
  • Strong communication skills: oral, written and presentation skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment and best practices;
  • A proven ability to influence and collaborate across groups and partner effectively with virtual teams
  • Proven success managing multiple projects across a fast-paced and continually changing environment
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and require minimal supervision
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in indirect tax concepts and/or indirect tax compliance related to large multi-national corporations / supply chains (e.g.: Sales and Use Tax, Value-Added Tax, Goods and Services Tax);
  • Experience designing and/or implementing indirect tax reporting solutions with a variety of upstream data sources (e.g.: Vertex, SAP, eCommerce Billing systems, Invoice Processing systems, Procurement systems, etc);
  • Hands on experience writing & working with complex data queries (e.g.: SQL)
  • Experience implementing data visualization and/or robotic process automation (RPA) tools (e.g: PowerBI, UIPath, Alteryx)
  • Agile and/or project management experience;
  • Experience designing and/or integrating with a data lake
