Location: EMEA - mulltiple EMEA locations (remote work) possible We are looking for an exceptional commercial lawyer with experience in various areas of law to add to our strong EMEA legal team. This role will support the newly created Energy Transition & Digital business unit, and report into the EMEA Deputy General Counsel. With a seat on the Division leadership team, the candidate will be responsible for all legal activities for the Division across its EMEA footprint. The candidate will be accountable for strategic, operational and executionary advice related to sales, supply, M&A and re-structurings, litigation, real estate and employment, and will work in close partnership with the various Law Department Special Practice Groups to foster global alignment and consistent service delivery. The candidate will also maintain regional responsibility for the French and Mediterranean ES footprint, working in conjunction with the Business Attorney's representing ES divisions in those regions. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be a commercial generalist who will contribute to, and support implementation of, the strategic and operational approaches in the Energy Transition & Digital Division. Experience with multi-jurisdictional transactions is essential. The candidate will be a business partner and primary legal point of contact for the Division and the French and Mediterranean regions, maintaining ownership for providing a full suite of legal services in partnership with outside counsel and a number of internal Eaton Centres of Excellence and Special Practice Groups (Contract Management, Digital Office, Litigation, etc). The candidate will also be well versed in identifying legal and commercial risk trends and deploying appropriate legal and practical mitigatory measures. Master in Law Degree in a European jurisdiction, with a strong preference for France. Minimum of 6 years post qualification experience with recent experience in Cyber / Digital areas of law. Excellent knowledge of key EMEA jurisdictions, notably France, generalist laws and practice. Working knowledge and desire to build knowledge in the digital contracts space. Low ego and roll sleeves up attitude; demonstrated leadership abilities; effective member of a highly functioning team. Sound strategic thinking and business counsel. Ability to provide legal support to the leadership, business and legal teams. Ability to manage complex professional relationships across the globe, working in a large established and matrixed law team. Possess a global view; ability to dig deep into details to meet internal and external customer needs. Balance necessity to use influence to drive difficult decisions with understanding when additional investigation is required. Excellent spoken and written communications skills and the ability to adapt the message to effectively share information with internal and external stakeholders. Genuinely enjoy the practice of law and hard work attached to it; naturally inquisitive and demonstrates tenacity when working on complex projects with a range of individuals with varying skill set levels. Eager to take on leadership initiatives and challenging opportunities. In addition to English, French is essential.
