Job Description

To help accelerate this transformation for customers, the Business Strategy Lead will drive leadership to shape industry, devise and execute compete and solution strategies as well as strong partnerships that empower customers’ digital transformation journeys with Microsoft.

This is a senior role designed to co-lead and drive, in alignment with Microsoft’s Manufacturing Global Leader, strategy with deep thought leadership and domain expertise related to transforming an industry. The Business Strategy Lead positions Microsoft in a category of one as the most exciting and complete cloud platforms for the manufacturing industry.

 

This role will manage the end-to-end, technical aspects of developing the go-to-market ecosystem that allows us to sell solutions at scale throughout the industry. The Business Strategy Lead also needs to have established experience and strong knowledge of the industry competitive landscape in order to partner with account teams and corporate stakeholders to drive strategic compete plans within Microsoft’s top manufacturing accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other Business Strategy Leads and Industry Solution Managers to develop a rolling 3-horizon strategy to grow Microsoft’s share across the Manufacturing industry.
  • Partner across the organization to accelerate adoption and consumption of Microsoft Manufacturing industry priority scenarios. This includes working closely with several engineering teams to provide feedback on products, roadmap, platform capabilities and gaps; advising the One Commercial Partner group (OCP) on partner strategies; and partnering with Marketing, Services and other critical internal stakeholders to ensure industry solutions are targeted to meet customers’ needs at vertical, sub-vertical, use case levels as applicable.
  • Work closely with Industry Solution Managers, field industry teams and other industry sellers to land solution Lighthouse deals and design wins and provide feedback to corporate teams on BOM, services and partner engagement models.
  • Have deep competitive differentiation understanding and objective handling including certification and compliance regulations.
  • lnitiate engagement in industry-wide initiatives and standards bodies, and grow the partner ecosystem in partnership with OCP to fill out the solution landscape across the industry.
  • Understand and drive the technical architecture aspects of the Microsoft priority solutions working in partnership with engineering and product teams to inform manufacturing-aligned communities and promote prioritized solutions within the industry accounts.
  • Represent Microsoft at key industry events, Microsoft internal events such as Microsoft Ready, and external events such as Microsoft Envision, and at the Executive Briefing Center for customers and partners.
  • Partner with industry solutions managers, account teams, and Marketing to land the business value of Microsoft priorities and technology portfolio at EBCs, key events, and executive client touch points strengthening Microsoft’s role as a trusted advisor in manufacturing.
  • Partner with extended team leaders and the broader Enterprise Commercial leadership team to define and drive change management efforts, including implementing manufacturing strategy and key imperatives.
  • Analyze market share gains, sales outcomes, customer feedback and other key metrics to assess health and progress of the Manufacturing Industry team strategy and its ability to drive sustainable revenue and consumption growth

Qualifications

  • Established manufacturing industry experience, expertise, and credentials with customer line-of-business needs and deep industry solution technical expertise.
  • Strong understanding of the partner ecosystems (including Tier 1s, ISVs, SIs) related to manufacturing solutions and the ability to identify leading solution vendors or systems integrators with relevant repeatable solutions or domain practices.
  • Deep understanding of the industry competitive landscape and be able to translate Microsoft’s value proposition to drive global compete strategies.
  • Strong development and architecture skills acquired over 10 years or more serving the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong strategy planning and execution, sales and marketing collateral development and sales leadership track record
  • Industry specialized development or consulting position within an independent solution vendor or systems integrator is a plus.
  • Track record of driving business/product performance through influencing for impact and supporting strong cross-group and cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Understand, and have experience with, the application of cloud-based technologies in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work across engineering and sales and marketing teams.
  • Proven capabilities of exemplary impact through cross-group collaboration and partnerships  
  • Relentless drive for execution excellence.  
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills. 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Engineering in a related field or MBA is desirable.
