The Role
Following the acquisition of SDL by RWS in late 2020, we are now accelerating the integration of the various businesses into a one RWS and are looking to appoint a Business Transformation Office Director (BTOD) to drive the company’s value creation programme, which consists of various separate programmes of work, and thus be a key driver of the group’s transformation activities.
Through establishing the principles, standards, and framework for effective change delivery across RWS, the BTOD will lead, coordinate, and report on the portfolio of our transformational change programmes that enables the business to meet its strategic growth aims and ambition. They will ensure that change is not only delivered successfully, but also embedded in a sustainable manner and that the business capabilities and operating model are as efficient and effective as possible, being fit-for-purpose in achieving our strategic aims. They will be high profile and will work collaboratively with the Executive and Senior Leadership Team to deliver its objectives. The role will also provide direct support and coaching to frontline managers and supervisors as they help their direct reports through transitions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Through creativity, expertise, and collaboration, identify, lead, drive and manage the overall transformation program at pace to increase efficiency and performance across the breadth of RWS.
- Coordinate, guide, and report on all strategically identified transformation projects from inception, delivery to closure, supporting across the lifecycle of project delivery and benefits realisation.
- Ensure there is a robust commissioning process for transformation business case development with a clear articulation of business benefits.
- Proactively seek out and tackle issues that will prevent the delivery of business benefits in transformation projects, facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders.
- Undertake trouble-shooting activities on programmes/projects as required by analysing the problem and assisting with putting in place the appropriate corrective action.
- Responsible for the transformation project management framework/methodology which will be shared with all programmes/projects. This will enable project principles to be applied consistently across the organisation and provide training where required.
- Responsible for providing the portfolio management across all transformation change projects, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and budget to the satisfaction of business stakeholders.
- Managing the competing programme/project timetables to minimize teams being hit with multiple changes from different programmes at the same time.
- Work with and support Project Boards and others as required. Provide timely reporting of all projects and programmes to the overall Group Steering Board and assist with oversight of all projects, particularly where this relates to scope, timetable, budget, or business absorption.
- Develop and nurture strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure engagement and delivery of change.
- Lead or review the outputs from post-project and programme reviews to look for opportunities to improve methods, training, and guidance.
Desired Skills and Competencies
- Educated to degree level and qualified in programme and project management methodologies.
- Detailed understanding of change management strategies, techniques, and programmes.
- Ideally background from tier 1 consulting or restructuring consultancy though global corporate experience is highly relevant.
- Experience of working at a senior level in a complex environment, managing multiple transformation projects with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience of leading and delivering large scale, global transformational change, and the ability to convey a compelling and engaging vision of change.
- Evidence of handling highly complex organisational matters and difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
- Willingness to get your hands dirty to show your team members how it's done.
- You are comfortable managing ambiguity, leading change, aligning stakeholders, and helping the team do the same delivering world-class results
- You are an analytical, data driven individual with excellent communication skills and know how to achieve success and buy in through influence.
- You're a leader who balances pragmatism with visionary leadership
- Technical hands-on mentality, high business acumen, natural enthusiasm, and curiosity, "make things happen" attitude
