Job Description

Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Business – electrical products and systems in harsh and hazardous industrial environments

Possible locations: Luton, UK or Sutton, UK

The Business Unit Manager / General Manager – HAC/MTL is responsible for the short and long-range growth and profitability of the Devices and Systems product line and the proportionate contribution to the over-all growth and profitability of Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Business in support of established goals and objectives.

This position requires an understanding of global markets and technology trends in the Harsh and Hazardous markets.  The incumbent will develop, direct and coordinate a regional organization with functional responsibilities for business development and strategy, sales, marketing and product management, finance and human resources.  

Initial profit center responsibilities will exceed $200M in annual revenue in 2021 with a charter to define and execute a strategic growth plan intended to position HAC/MTL as the leader in the chosen target markets and to generate growth 2X the industry growth standards.

The success of the position is measured by increased sales penetration into existing accounts and growth with new customers and markets as well as meeting pre-established operational performance objectives while meeting over-all business profitability goals.

The job holder is expected to provide inspirational leadership to employees internally and act as an ambassador for Eaton externally. The role supports the enablement of management effectiveness by selecting, developing, coaching and managing the performance of managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives to the organization; assigning accountabilities and ultimately developing a culture open to diverse points of views and experiences.

 

The principle accountabilities of the role include:
•    Own and execute the annual strategic growth and operating plan consistent with the results and behavior objectives of the business
•    Work closely with division and regional staff to deliver functional process standardization and the application of consistent and rigorous performance metrics.  
•    Accountable for full profit center performance.  Ensure operational execution and financial performance to deliver the agreed profit plan
•    Develop a performance focused and collaborative culture within the business unit, aligning functional priorities to the business goals and advocating the leadership attributes for the team to adopt and demonstrate
•    Execute established goals for sales growth, market share, profit contribution and return on investment to achieve results through leadership on new growth opportunities for both the established market and new/adjacent market opportunities
•    Work closely with division and regional staff to deliver functional process standardization and the application of consistent and rigorous performance metrics.  
•    Align with business unit operations, supply chain and logistics to assure high level of customer satisfaction with delivery, quality and services and promote continuous improvement efforts in order to drive repeated business and customer loyalty
•    Build high performance culture and organizational capability to ensure the business meets and exceeds divisional revenue, growth and cost targets. Through effective hiring, placement, development, and motivation build a pro-active group of self-starting employees with a “customer first” attitude
•    Coordinate a unified direction between sales, marketing, engineering and operations through effective global communication and feedback of marketing and product line planning, ensuring the product portfolio provides enhanced offerings, improved reliability and impact the strategic direction of technology and new product development.  Implement effective strategies to forecast customers interest and develop differential and competitive advantages.  Stays informed of market and customer trends in order to anticipate developments and plan accordingly.
•    Lead the business unit’s strategic account management to enhance product offerings, improve reliability and impact new product development.  Drive disciplined approach to projects and programs through integration of business tools including EBS (Eaton Business System), Value Selling, Six Sigma, Eaton Lean System and PROLaunch (Eaton’s Product Launch process)
•    Ensure a safe work environment for all employees through implementation of safety awareness programs and compliance with EHS, OSHA and similar regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Business or Engineering preferred/ MBA desired
  • 15 years minimum of experience product line / commercial
  • Experience with business leadership and P&L management
  • Experience of relevant vertical markets, business management, product line marketing
  • Proven business leader with prior interactions with senior executive, experience with international business, global business planning and global channel development, accustomed to frequent customer interfaces
  • Financial competence, familiarity with planning, forecasting P&L and operational management
