Job Description
The candidate is responsible for all purchased goods and service for the corporation in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures in processing purchase orders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in verifying purchase requisitions
- Liaising with existing suppliers and negotiating contracts
- Source the correct products and services needed from the specified vendors
- Ensure accurate recording of purchasing information by performing data entry tasks associated with purchase requisitions (manual or computer generated) and orders.This includes the correction or cancellation of all orders and requisitions.
- Analysing past purchasing history to anticipate trends in internal customer buying patterns.
- Document all relevant information and supplier responses in regard to product availability, specification and price
- Obtain samples when necessary
- Prepare purchase orders for approval based on approved purchase requisitions
- Follow up on purchase orders and expedite delivery
- Liaise with Receiving and the Warehouse on all shorts, late deliveries and rejections
- Ensure timely filing of all purchase order packets is maintained
- Act in accordance with established Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures and report any actual or potential OH&S issues.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Total Cost Savings
- Quality of products and/or services that buyer introduced based on user feedback and product durability
- Purchasing productivity (number of tenders and contracts, purchase orders)
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum one year working experience in a purchasing environment is required, preferably in hospitality environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products is required
- Experience with purchasing systems such as Micro-Fidelio or SWS is required
- Understanding of basic legal contract terms and conditions is a plus
- Ability to analyse large amounts of data is required
- Negotiating experience is a plus
Education
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution is required
