Our Siemens Commercial Vehicles Business Unit is looking for a multi-faceted Buyer/Supplier Quality Assurance Professional affiliated with our Alpharetta, GA, office. You will have the ability to work a Flexible Remote Work Schedule. Position Overview In this role you will be responsible for Strategic Supply Chain Management and for long term and strategic procurement in the US. The Position is passionate about identifying regional or global suppliers, markets or regions, for the CV commodities like raw materials, semi-finished products and services that are either directly or indirectly used in CV’s product portfolio; Identifying and analyzing internal customer needs, validating and discussing technical specifications, in collaboration with Sales & Quality Management responsible or together with technical Project Manager. Ensure the material supply for operation, meanwhile continuously reduce the total cost of ownership. Prepares negotiations and contracts. In this role you will also responsible for Supplier Quality Assurance of assigned commodities, products, and services within CV. The SQAP part of the role is responsible to develop new and existing suppliers and drive the process with supplier audits. Ensure the defined processes are adhered to; set metrics and quality targets for reporting of supplier quality. The SQAP implements a system to detect and analyze non-conformances, communicating with suppliers to support a method of balanced problem solving. This position is both commercial and technical in nature, the successful candidate will be encouraged to lead multidisciplinary projects. Successful candidate will need to have a track record of strategic procurement and supplier quality management. Responsibilities Strategic Procurement The Role represents the company as the main point of contact for strategic and quality aspects of procurement, and works closely with the tactical Procurement organization of Commercial Vehicles. Executes Supplier Management processes (e.g. qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification). Drives supplier onboarding process. Plans and performs sourcing / dual sourcing decisions, including procurement contingency plans. Supports obsolescence management. Supports Localization activities to ensure successful implementation of product and process requirements. Develops and drives monthly reporting of supplier KPIs. Chips in to implementation and ensures usage of globally defined methods, processes and systems to ensure high process efficiency and process compliance (e.g. compliant Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) process, Procurement guidelines, IT systems). Provides supplier information to the project and conducts project-specific supplier evaluations (project evaluations). Drives technology-specific value and cost optimization programs with focus on product cost optimization. Gives active support, for cost structure analyses and design-to-cost workshops. Provides corresponding support for projects in lines of business to provide optimum input for quotes, workshops, scope of material and realization of potential for savings. Supplier Quality Management Builds and negotiates Quality Assurance agreements and ensures implementation in supplier processes. Crafts and negotiates General Quality and Quality Assurance agreements and supervises supplier contract coverage rate. Establishes appropriate Quality control of delivered goods and services. Plans and performs Supplier Audits including follow-up of audit measures. Supports Quality inspections at supplier site or incoming inspections. Closely cooperates with component engineering and manufacturing for validation of results. Implements complaints management system to detect and analyze non-conformances, verifies root cause analysis and communicates with supplier. Supports balanced problem solving. Evaluates and reports on supplier performance and supports definitions of effective measures. Drives supplier performance and continuous improvement and collaborates in supplier development programs. Applies preventive quality methods aimed at risk minimization. Designs, maintains, and improves specific quality requirements, specifications and concepts based on supplier and product/service risk assessment. Supports standardized supplier qualification process according to corporate guidelines (ready for business). Actively involved in projects to support/review specifications & requirements. Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent Technical Degree required Minimum 2-3 years as a Strategic Supply Chain Management in Automotive, Power infrastructure, drives/motors, process automation type projects Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience with Supplier Quality Management Experienced with PPAP and APQP processes Experienced with the ISO 9001:2015 Educated auditor for VDA 6.3 with experience of supplier audits is a plus IATF 16949:2016 knowledge is a plus Knowledge in QM methods like 8D, 5w Industry knowledge in Transportation Rail & Bus Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Must be able to discuss project financials in detail Be able to discuss confrontational issues (ex. claims, delays, etc.) with suppliers Travel approximately 25-40% as the need arises for projects Flexible remote work schedule with travel domestically and abroad Where permitted by applicable law, Siemens may require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 based on job requirements, and in accordance with an accommodation based on legally protected reasons Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience SIEMENS and non-SIEMENS supply chain experience Shown understanding of physics, mechanical and digital subject areas (automation, networks, software systems, etc.) Manufacturing, Field service and/or Commissioning background a plus Experience in Electrical Engineering projects, specifically in the areas of power distribution and protection, drive systems and control systems Understanding of variable frequency drives (AC & DC) and their application German as second language is a plus At Siemens, we are committed to an ownership culture, in which every employee takes personal responsibility for our company’s success.
