Regulatory & Trade Sr. Analyst (Canada & North America)

Regulatory & Public Affairs maximizes opportunity & minimizes risk by guiding business decisions based on scientific & regulatory insight and provide appropriate governance structure.

The CA Trade Sr. Analyst belongs to the North America Network regulatory and Public Affairs Team. He/she also belongs a community of practice of Royal Canin Regulatory & Public Affairs promoting best practice sharing, establishing and auditing standards, processes, systems, and the consistent application of Mars Petcare and Royal Canin policies. The objective is to ensure regulatory trade compliance of ingredients, products, processes, and ensuring appropriate level of engagement of Royal Canin in Canada with critical external stakeholders of public domain that include but is not limited to Petfood Trade Association, local and central authorities, veterinary authorities and public bodies responsible for market regulations for import and export.

 

What are we looking for?

  • 5 years of experience in Regulatory Affairs, public policy, or Trade related field.
  • Bachelors/ Master in a technical area, such as business, International Affairs, food science, veterinary medicine, food safety, chemistry, toxicology, nutrition, or other biological science.
  • Customs Broker License preferred  
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of nutrition and pet food law and regulatory frameworks, challenging scientific dossiers, understanding key messages from scientific information and defending complex regulatory and scientific challenges with appropriate data.

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

 

  • Provide an interpretation at a detailed level of new and projects of regulations from the countries supplied by RGU, the implications on the use of our ingredients, their process, origin, recipes.
  • Complete the “Raw materials regulatory assessment” forms as part of the innovation plan, including assessment and analyzing ingredients under domestic substance listing, ECCN - CFIA regulations
  • Partner with local SRA on RGU facility audits for export approval purposes, supporting RGU 3rd party (external) audits (CFIA, USDA etc.)
  • Monitor day-day cross border transactions into and out of Canada.
  • Represent Royal Canin interests in the most relevant Trade Associations technical working groups
  • Set and manage the process for Import Licenses administration in close collaboration with import countries RC teams
  • Provide all necessary documentation for RGU site such as Product registration, Declarations, Affidavits, health certificates, Annexes, FSC and other documents as assigned.
  • Identify new items requiring Free Trade Agreement qualification and facilitate communication with internal partners for qualification analysis.
  • Analyzes, audits, and evaluates internal and external business partners including operations, procedures, and documentations to verify and ensure compliance with health and regulatory guidelines for cross border trade
  • Manage Local Level Broker relationship ad support day to day activities such as responding to shipment delays and document creation, requests from customs brokers. 
  • Finance
  • Lead in the invoice management process for key customs and brokers vendors, including governmental regulatory bodies, through reviewing and approving costs incurred.
  • Partnering with Finance department and external consultants to review and execute cost savings opportunities for local charges incurred.
  • Reporting the duty related analytics, identifying and partnering on cost saving initiatives
