CEO – Digital Eyewear Startup

BCG Digital Ventures is building a digital eyewear startup in Shanghai with one of the world’s leading technology companies in the optics space. We will be the first to provide an end-to-end vision care solution that is tailored to the lives of modern-day professionals. With advanced technology and intuitive design, working professionals can reliably and conveniently monitor the health of their eyes and get perfectly fitted spectacles based on their specific needs and preferences.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking for a CEO who will lead the direction of the venture and build a strong connection between the operation in Shanghai and our corporate partner in Europe to capitalize on the disruptive potential in the Chinese eyewear market.

As the CEO of the venture, you will:

Lead Strategy

• Set the vision for the company and define the overall strategy from launch to scale; including long-term goals. Drive growth, profitability and company value
• Provide mentorship to all functional areas, including sales, marketing, product, service, operation and engineering
• Develop and implement scalable and efficient strategies to ensure both consistent results and exponential growth

Build Great Talent & Teams

• Attract, retain and develop top talent, building and scaling the team
• Cultivate a high-performing and agile team culture
• Empower the team towards autonomous delivery, while exercising appropriate balance of control

Execute with Excellence

• Lead day-to-day operations in Shanghai while maintain good communication channels with European partner side
• Align people and budget resources against strategic business priorities
• Proactively mitigate business, operational & governance risks

Mobilize Partners

• Regularly update the board of the corporate partner regarding our progress on strategic priorities, and closely collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to accelerate, scale and ultimately win
• Invest in strategic partnerships and relationships to drive growth

Desired Background

• Native Chinese speaker as well as fluent written and oral English skills with proven success records in building up an early startup/new business unit in the Chinese market
• Strong understanding of European culture, able to bridge the gap. Experience living/working in Europe is a big plus, ideally German-focused
• P&L responsibilities at a CEO Level (or head of a significant corporate business unit)
• Proven track record of building and successfully bringing digital products into the market as well as growing and managing high caliber, multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience working in a corporate environment or closely with a corporate partner
• Experience with AI-powered platforms is a plus
• Entrepreneurial mindset with extraordinary communication skills, able to drive the business while keeping alignment with stakeholders
