Job Summary Operational Excellence and Engineering Manager is responsible for coordinating plant site continues improvement initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations, achieve operational excellence and variation reduction. The Operational Excellence Manager will execute lean manufacturing and fulfillment strategy for process improvement, inventory reduction, through the optimization of resources and reduce overall cost. Operational Excellence Manager is responsible to contribute to the business organization with the implementation of the Eaton Business System. Primary Responsibilities Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations and achieve operational excellence. Development/execution of strategic plans for implementation of ELSS in facility based upon lean assessment. Conduct training needs assessment associated with ELSS. Coordinate and deliver required ELSS as appropriate New product development systems (PRO-Launch) team member for input of Manufacturing and design in shop floor overall Process. Leads or facilitates projects or events such as shop floor and variation reduction Kaizens Implements effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement and cost out. Contributes heavily in the identification of cost-out ideas and implementation of the ideas. Works as required with supplier quality assurance, supplier development to ensure lean is deployed through the enterprise. Supports best practice sharing and internal and external benchmarking. Represents plant in division councils or work teams as appropriate. Drive core functional excellence in implementing: Eaton Business System (EBS), Lean, Six Sigma, OpA, CIF, EBS Pull and other world-class operation management techniques. Personally lead change to improve organizational effectiveness. Drive the change management necessary to implement effective lean manufacturing operations. Assist staff managers in the development of procedures to maximize output, maintain or improve quality, and reduce overall cost. Assess, select and develop operations talent. Support initiatives to improve EHS culture; Participate in a EHS team (Ergo, Safety, Green, etc); Include safety topics in departmental meetings; Achieve near misses goal. Support and/or participate on Continuous Improvement Activities such as: Kaizen, Ideas Programs, cost out and/or demonstrate improvements in goals year over year in our processes or practices aligned to achieve or business goals and/objectives. Lead cost of non-conformance (CONC) initiatives to reduce cost Comply and support the implementation and improvement effort to the Quality Management Systems (EQS) and AS9100 and coordinate the efforts of the internal quality audits. Contributes to overall profitability and growth objectives through the management of Eaton’s lean processes, continuous improvement efforts, and continuous improvement culture advancement. Drive and maintain an atmosphere for Continuous Improvement and Error Proofing through the implementation of six sigma/lean production methodology in order to accomplish division goals. Monitors overall performance toward plant objectives for ELSS activities. Creates action plans and follow-up on work assignments based on these activities. Updates Lean tracker and responsible for completion of planned kaizen events. Manage, facilitate, and sustain process improvements for all projects through the use of Requirements Analysis & Management, Design Management, Integration Planning, Test Planning & Testing, Operations Planning, Configuration Management, Safety Analysis. Apply lean manufacturing techniques as a means to eliminate waste and deliver products to meet customer expectations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by developing actions plans that foster communication and knowledge transfer throughout the organization. Actively participate in the fulfillment of the Health and Safety objectives established by the company Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Expert in lean manufacturing system including training, planning and implementation of tools Position requires strong analytical skills and understanding of problem solving tools/methods (six sigma, 8D, QOS and other) and Balanced Scorecard goal setting process Understands role of quality and variation reduction in driving operational improvement (minimum of Green Belt in 6Sigma, preferred). Understands supplier quality, tools associated with new product development and launch, quality function deployment, quality management systems (QS, TS) and cost of quality. Understanding of budgets and cost drivers Broad knowledge of product and manufacturing process Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Field with lean manufacturing experience, preferred Strong communication skills and comfort with facilitating teams/groups and working with all levels in the organization Strong computer skills Perseverance and leadership to manage projects and drive for results. Ability to plan, organizes and build effective teams, and motivate others. Innovative mind-set and ability to facilitate team sessions.
