Applications are invited for the position of CLACH consultant. CLACH stands for Chinese Literature, Arts, Culture and History. The position is initially for one year on a part time basis, with the possibility of extension for two further years.
The role involves advising and facilitating a team of teaching and support staff to further develop CLACH, the school’s inter-disciplinary initiative to promote students’ interest in Chinese Literature, Arts, Culture and History. The CLACH initiative began over two years ago, and will be an integral part of the school’s new 3-year development plan.
Key responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Learning, the key responsibilities include:
- Securing and helping to manage external funding from Education Bureau, QEF and other sources to support programmes & projects promoting CLACH.
- Working with the Chinese Faculty to enhance learning of Chinese Language & Literature for both first and second language learners of Chinese,
- Working with the Arts Faculty to enhance students’ experience and learning of both traditional and contemporary Chinese Visual and Performing Arts
- Working with the I&S Faculty to enhance the delivery of the junior secondary Chinese History course
- Working with all faculties to develop links between Chinese culture & history and other curriculum subjects as well as the school’s STEAM initiative
- Developing and implementing measures which identify, quantify and qualify students’ interest, engagement and attainment in Chinese Language & Literature, Chinese History & the Arts through a Chinese perspective.
- Strengthening links with the school’s many stakeholders and partner institutions – CSSPTA, Creative Primary School, other schools in Hong Kong and CSS’s sister school in China - through Chinese literary and cultural activities and exchanges.
Key attributes & qualities of the consultant:
- Expert knowledge and understanding of Chinese Literature, Arts, Culture & History
- Awareness of and commitment to key IB and CSS core values
- Proven track record of facilitating inter-disciplinary curriculum development
- Past success in securing and managing external funding to support CLACH-like projects
- Strong level of Chinese literacy, native level fluency in both Cantonese & Putonghua, good spoken & written English
- Inviting personality and good team working skills
