Job Description
The Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division of Eaton’s Aerospace Group has an opening for a Housing Turning Operator on 2nd shift. This position is based in Euclid, OH. The starting pay rate is $26.32/hour + $.50/hour shift differential. The Euclid facility has approximately 300 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace Fuel Pumping components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets. Position Overview: Operate, maintain set-up and monitor equipment and inspect all types of rough and finish operations on a variety of parts in the Housing Cell. Perform as a team member providing assistance to other members and jointly responsible for the quality, productivity, and housekeeping of the Housing Cell area. Perform visual and dimensional inspections and maintain accurate documentation on a variety of parts in accordance with ANSI Y14-5 and the certified operator program. Provide assistance to other operators on proper operational procedures. Perform 5S and other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor. Essential Functions: Equipment includes horizontal and vertical CNC turning machines. Obtain gages, programs, process set up sheet, operation sketch, fixtures, and tools. Read process sheets and sketches of part and tooling to determine set up, work sequence, and dimensional sizes. Position, align, and secure fixture in a chuck or to a face plate as specified on set up and operational sketch. Assemble and pre-set tools with the aid of indicators, surface plate, micrometers, gages, special fixture or optical tool setting equipment to predetermined dimensions. Install pre-set tools to tool magazine or spindle or set individual tools to tool posts and turrets following specified sequence on process set up sheet. Load program in the control via DNC. Operate machine to verify program for tool selections, tool setting, speeds and feeds as specified on set up sheet prior to machining part. Position, align and secure work piece. Activate controls to jog tool to set point, advance program and start automatic machining cycle. Check each machining operation for size, form, location, and finish. Correct deviations by resetting or changing tools, using offset, resolver, or over-ride controls; back up program and restart machine at point of deviation. Monitor cutting action; while machine is operating under automatic cycle, observe control panel indicators, positioning and sequence number display lights to detect errors and correct malfunctions. Monitor direct readout where applicable. Maintain set up by changing and resetting tools, changing programs, realignment of fixtures and making necessary control adjustments to obtain size, form, location and finish. Maintain all necessary logs and records concerning problems encountered and any deviations from the program. Use a variety of precision inspection equipment during machine cycle, tool and fixture set up, adjustments, and inspection duties, such as electronic gages, air gates, etc. Use a variety of common and special purpose hand tools to set up and adjust machines, tools, fixtures, and related equipment; operate overhead hoist or use mechanical means to handle heavy fixtures or work pieces. Correct and/or report fixture tooling problems and program error; report machine breakdown to the foreman. Work cooperatively with programmer, engineer and foreman to prove out new programs and tooling. Visual inspect for surface finish (tool marks, etc.). Maintain accurate lot control (QCP 6.0) traceability, record keeping, log book entries, NCR’s (QCP 11.0) and associated documentation. Chart and plot data per SPC requirement. Load and unload Datamytes. Move material within the cell. Perform minor machine maintenance. May be required to perform more than one operation at a time as directed by the foreman. Burr work internal to the cycle. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Euclid, OH will be considered. (Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.) This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Minimum (3) three years of experience in set-up and operation of CNC turning equipment OR Minimum one (1) year set-up and operation of precision NC/CNC machining. Position Criteria: Become a Certified Operator within 40 days of becoming active on the code. Complete an Eaton approved training program within 120 days. Pass an Eaton vision test.
