We are seeking a CVS Systems Controls Technician for our Fort Smith, Arkansas location.

 

The Controls Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient performance of the automated plant processes, systems and lines. They must be multi-crafted with a heavy emphasis on software and control systems. Their work includes on-line troubleshooting and repair, planned work, continuous improvement, capital projects, maintenance projects and training of other technicians and plant operators. Their activities are driven by area performance and planned work order requests. Controls Technicians are responsible to identify, prioritize, plan and execute day-to-day activities with little or no supervision.

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot various pieces of equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate and complete quality checks and document results using data base collection system.
  • Adhere to all Mars Safety Rules & Regulations to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Comply with Mars Petcare Quality and Food Safety Practices, GMPs, and other Food Safety and Regulatory Standards to ensure we manufacture a quality product.
  • Comply with Mars Supply Excellence principles and standards.
  • Any other duties assigned by your line manager.
  • Must have the ability to flex schedule within the defined overtime policy to achieve business needs.
  • Maintain the software infrastructure of the site.
  • Develop new technologies to support changing and outdated software systems.
  • Troubleshoot and fix malfunctioning software systems when other resources are unable to correct the problems.
  • Be a resource to the Commissioning, Validation, and Start-up (CVS) process for projects and equipment installations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities (Lean manufacturing, Kaizen).
  • Hire, schedule and manage activities of contractors for modifications, additions, heavy construction and highly specialized labour performed on assigned equipment or systems.
  • This position and all site associates are responsible for quality and food safety.

 

What are we looking for?

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree or equivalent in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering
  • In-depth electrical/electronics training.
  • Technical training from an accredited school and/or military experience in related fields
  • Electrical safe work practices
  • Confined space entry
  • Working at heights
  • Forklift operation
  • FDA Better Process Control certification
  • Filling, seaming, packaging and labeling equipment maintenance training
  • 5+ years experience maintaining electrical control and mechanical systems on complex process and/or high-speed production equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Programmable Controllers
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing instrumentation and controls
  • 480 Volt, Three Phase power distribution and motor controls
