Description


As a Buyer, you will be responsible to identify and develop alternative sources for Enterprise Marketing categories. The category includes Full Service Agencies, Media Placement, Research Analysis, Translations, Photography, Video, Incentives, Trade Shows & Events, Graphics and other subcategories supporting the Marketing organization.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Serve as the primary contact between Caterpillar and the supply base for global/regional initiatives, including commercial discussions/negotiations with suppliers
  • Evaluate, develop and approve suppliers as required for Enterprise Marketing Category
  • Responsible and accountable for directing the development, and/or communication and implementation of a site, regional, or worldwide sourcing strategy
  • Responsible for development, management and execution of the global category strategy managing policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs
  • Approve purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Accountable for liaison with the corresponding source buyers

Qualifications


Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge of various operating, purchasing, parts ordering and inventory management systems
  • 3 to 5 years of job-related experience
  • College or university degree or equivalent experience on various assignments in Purchasing with emphasis on working with suppliers
  • Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management.
  • Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Fluent in English


Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Purchasing and/or Marketing
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar's policies, products, and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good human relations skills
  • Good communications skills
  • Fluent in English

Travel: The position may require frequent travel.


Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field required. 2-4 years finance related experience required.
