Job Description
This successful candidate will work closely with key stakeholders to identify and develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans. The Category Manager's primary responsibility is to utilize the strategic sourcing and category management best practices to capture real savings while making effective supply base decisions. They include direct savings captured through consolidating company-wide purchasing volume and applying operational and commercial TCO levers to reduce cost and managing contracts with suppliers. The Category Manager should expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Lead global category management, establish global category strategy, responsible for the global spend, drive best country sourcing and deliver consistent profitability beyond target budget.
  • Ensure comprehensive category strategies are established to address company requirements and deliver agreed savings targets and other value added benefits that significantly impact financial results.
  • Develop, champion, and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize total cost of ownership year-over-year for assigned spend categories according to group guidelines.
  • Track forecasted vs actual savings for the assigned categories and be responsible for communicating performance against these measures and their potential budgetary impact.
  • Familiar with India & East Asia supplier base, and experience for Indian & East Asia supplier management, and knowledge of legal, commercial and trade regulation.
  • Knowledge of digitalization supply chain, COE in Asia, and logistic/service center.
  • Serves as project manager for initiatives and rollouts. Coordinates cross-functionally to collect data, obtain feedback and drive project timelines.
  • Maintains a strong customer service orientation. Troubleshoots issues and provides prompt resolution to questions and requests.
  • Initiates, develops and maintains company-wide policies and ensures compliance in all aspects of procedures.
Leverages peer and industry best practices and benchmarks to make recommendations for continuous improvement

Minimum Requirements

  • Working knowledge and experience with strategic sourcing and category management processes
  • Demonstrated skills in influencing, problem solving, ethics and analytical thinking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, with strong influencing and persuasive talents
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Experience with Ariba or SAP system a plus
  • Strong financial and business acumen and ability to understand and define most critical issues and develop methodologies for collecting and analyzing relevant data (make vs. buy, DTC, TCO, NPV etc.)
  • Ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Ability to develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans
  • Results oriented; ability to work independently on several projects at the same time
  • Able to understand the impact of business decisions and identify exposures to risk. Capable of identifying challenges and opportunities and communicating to the business
  • Strong PC software application knowledge using Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
