What you will be doing:

  • Consistently offer friendly, engaging & proactive guest service
  • Solicit banquet business, including meetings, weddings, dinners, receptions, and social events, and reach consistent achievement of sales objectives
  • Conduct site inspections and achieve entertainment goals, activity goals and revenue goals
  • Establish parameters, quotes, negotiate prices and seal contracts
  • Organize all bookings from date of booking to departure, including meeting requirements, guest room requirements, floor plans, guest room pickup, food & beverage and audio visual
  • Confirm all event related information with clients during finalizations
  • Conduct pre-conference meetings with clients and pertinent departments to confirm all relevant details and create event resumes
  • Conduct and/or attend daily BEO meeting to review event contracts and ensure last minute changes are communicated with appropriate departments
  • Initiate billing procedures, ensuring any deposits and/or credit applications are received in accurate and timely manner  following full hotel credit procedures
  • Establish and maintain excellent rapport with clients, prior to, during and post event, encouraging repeat business (relationship building)
  • Maintain accounts, contact, activity and business details
  • Participate in tradeshows, conventions and promotional events
  • Comply with all other company policies and procedures
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

 

  • Relevant sales experience is preferred, previous Event Coordinator or Food & Beverage experience an asset
  • Working knowledge of Sales & Catering, MS Office, Property Manager, Social Tables
  • Hospitality diploma or degree an asset
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Proven ability to plan and organize events effectively, with an acute sense on detail
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously using strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to make high quality guest decisions and to perform under pressure
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a very busy environment
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required

 

Successful candidates must already have authorization to work in Canada. The Hotel is unable to assist candidates in Canadian work authorization.

 

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): 

  • Occasional walking and standing throughout day
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and walking
