Causal Variant Discovery Lead

Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Causal Variant Discovery Lead, are to:   

 

  • Motivate and manage a team of research scientists and associates responsible for designing experiments and conducting genetic analyses towards the deployment of trait-linked genetic markers for large-scale use in the high-throughput genotyping labs;
  • Prioritize and manage projects in alignment with business needs and partner priorities;
  • Ensure objectives and deliverables are achieved in a timely manner;
  • Set team vision and strategy for scaled identification of very tightly linked or causative variants to enable breeding and gene/genome editing pipelines, partnering with quantitative genetics teams across Research and Development (R&D);
  • Support academic partnerships for trait mapping and fine-mapping to provide monthly written and oral presentations results, conclusions, decisions, and recommendations to peer and management groups as well as partner organizations.

Required Qualifications:  

 

  • Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience in Genetics, Breeding, Genomics, or related field OR Master's degree with 5+ years of experience in Genetics, Breeding, Genomics, or related field;
  • 3+ years of experience leading and/or managing teams;
  • Strong familiarity with genetics concepts, quantitative genetics, genomics data analytics, and experimental design;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts to people outside the discipline.
