Internship Summary:

MaineGeneral Health’s Central Services department is seeking an intern at our location in Gardiner, Maine. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical, offering the opportunity to gain exposure to many different areas of Central Services while working in a fast-paced team environment. The ideal candidate is organized, passionate, creative and brings a willingness to learn to their internship experience every day! KVCC Health Information students are encouraged to apply!

What our Intern will be doing:

• Converting older paper charts into electronic records
• Processing current patient records as received from a practice, creating a new record
• Processing outside referral paperwork to the specialist.
• Experience the ins and outs of obtaining insurance approval/authorization for a visit or procedure

Education:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or Business Administration

Experience:

• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
