Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, related engineering field, or equivalent practical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with test fixture design, assembly and development, system bring-up, design validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ongoing system monitoring and maintenance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in test station development.
  • Experience with factory testing, fixture design, tolerance analysis, system bring-up, and design validation.
  • Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigation.
  • Experience developing effective technical relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and technical engineering teams.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical assembly, integration, and test system bring-up.
  • Experience with product data management systems (e.g., Agile, Windchill) and 3D CAD modeling tools such as SolidWorks or Pro Engineer.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

As a Central Test Manufacturing Engineer, you will join our Product Operations and Test team working on new product factory test development and bring-up, including development, operation and troubleshooting of factory test systems, test flow planning, and build-out. In this role, you will rely on knowledge of electro-mechanical fixtures and fabrication methods and experience with electronic test equipment such as digital scopes, data acquisition systems, and their procurement. Additionally, you will coordinate the implementation of test hardware and operating procedures, analyze, results, and recommend changes regarding system design and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with test engineers in test system development and product testing for Google Hardware consumer electronics products.
  • Perform design for manufacturability/assembly/test (DFx) analyses and design for cost (DFC) analyses for factory test platforms, effectively communicating required design and material changes to contract manufacturers and engineering peers.
  • Perform measurements using standard test equipment and tooling/fixtures for FATP functional tests, RF connectivity, audio, camera, and optical system testing.
  • Execute test scripts to control custom hardware, perform data acquisition, and work with Engineering to analyze measurement results.
  • Perform system bring-up, design validation, DOE, debug/troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigation work.
