Job Overview
Support regulatory activities pertaining to criteria pollutant and GHG emissions certification and compliance and OBD certification and compliance. Support review of and internal communication regarding emissions and OBD regulations under development and finalized.
Responsibilities
- Read, analyze, interpret, summarize, and communicate EPA and ARB emissions regulatory language, and provide guidance to departments seeking related expert input.
- Interact with Engineering to comprehend, and document emissions control related technical information for the purpose of generating documentation for certification and running change submittals as required for DDC NAFTA products.
- Read, analyze, interpret, summarize, and communicate ARB and EPA OBD regulatory requirements and support product development group needs for interpretation of regulations and requirements relating to modification of existing and introduction of new OBD features, and communicate with ARB OBD staff as necessary for clarifications and/or concept approval.
- Involves travel to ARB El Monte CA offices for face to face reviews.
- Assimilate, review accuracy and completeness, and maintain documentation, of information necessary for OBD certification applications.
- Includes review of required OBD test results. Review/respond to related ARB OBD staff questions and information requests.
- Support ARB mandated OBD enforcement and compliance testing and reporting requirements.
- Support GHG credit tracking for annual EPA/NHTSA/Environment Canada/CARB reporting purposes and develop a database and models for periodic tracking and projecting credit levels against DDC’s GHG strategies and goals.
- Support Engineering to evaluate new GHG emissions reduction concepts relative to GHG reduction potential and implementation options.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of related experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6+ years of related experience OR Associates degree with 8+ years of related experience OR High School Diploma with 10+ years of related experience required
- An attached resume is required
- 5+ years of experience with IC (internal combustion) engine emissions, OBD development/certification, or closely related experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and summarize regulatory language required.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic & international) required.
- Strong communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills required.
- 2+ years of experience in EPA/ARB IC emissions/OBD certification application preferred.
- 2+ years of experience reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating EPA / ARB emissions or OBD-related regulatory language preferred.
