The Team

The Data Architecture team is responsible for the creation, implementation and refinement of the enterprise and subsequent solution architecture at AstraZeneca. Apply industry standard methodologies in future proofing our enterprise data architecture, alignment across functions and governance for all our data. With user self-service as a main objective, Data Architecture works with industry specialists to keep abreast of data technology advancements and develops a roll-out strategy which includes adoption and training. Data architecture governance across the Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) programme in partnership with global and local partners, is fundamental to the D&IE team remit.

The Data Architecture team is a significant contributor to the EDA program and is responsible for the definition of the target state architecture. This includes the data strategy evolution, in addition to the design and implementation of the data and information fabrics. An effective metadata management strategy and providing data support to business stakeholders are consequently crucial to this role, as well as the tracking of business adoption metrics.

The Role

Working with the Head of IT Data Enablement, the Chief Data Architecture provides guidance on enterprise data architecture and data modelling as it relates to the enterprise data warehouse, enterprise reporting and business intelligence (BI) initiatives. This role defines and owns the data architecture and modelling framework, governance and road-map initiatives to attain the vision. Works with strategic vs. tactical requirements of the organisation to fulfil the business needs.

Crucial Requirements:

• Comprehensive experience in Data Architecture/Modelling in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, or Business Intelligence.
• Experience building multiple Logical Data Models, both custom and industry banking models (FSLDM or BDWM).
• Experience designing and supporting a multi-terabyte Data Warehouse using Teradata, Oracle, or DB2.
• Requires technical understanding of key aspects of current architectures regarding Data Integration, SOA, Master Data Management, Metadata, Data Warehousing, Reporting & BI product suites.
• Requires extensive understanding Data Warehousing, Active Data Warehousing, Operational Data Stores, Reporting and BI technologies.
• Experience achieving objectives in a large organisation including influencing and negotiating with senior management.
• Experience with and a solid understanding of the Teradata RDBMS.
• Experience with different classes of BI tools. Experience with Cognos, Tableau, Essbase, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, SAS, and Futrix is a plus.
• Excellent people skills, leadership skills and experience motivating people to achieve objectives.
• A suitable and relevant degree qualification is required.
