Job Description

The Asia Pacific Economics team within the Economic and Country Risk unit at IHS Markit is seeking an enthusiastic junior economist to help support the group's deliverables. In this role, the selected candidate would:

  • Provide economic and risk analyses for China’s macro and regional economies
  • Provide headline analysis of key economic news on China’s macro and regional economies
  • Contribute to regular outlook and risk publications
  • Work closely with lead China economist and other China team members and provide input in the formulation of the company’s view and forecast on China.
  • Author special reports on topics of client interest
  • Respond to internal and external client inquiries
  • Interact and coordinate with other regional, data, and analytical groups within IHS Markit
  • Provide client briefings in conferences or individual client meeting settings.

The ideal candidate would have a Master’s Degree in Economics. Some prior relevant work experience, whether in a commercial or academic setting, is preferred but not required with appropriate degree and demonstrated subject matter expertise. Demonstrated knowledge of macro and sub-national economic trends in China is preferred. The candidate will have strong analytical and quantitative skills and excellent communication skills (written as well as verbal). Fluency in both Chinese and English is required. Strong command of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint is expected. Prior modeling experience and familiarity with Eviews is a plus.
