We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

HSBC is hiring a China Economist (Associate Director or Associate) to work the Greater China Economics Research team. Based in Beijing, the China Economist is a critical role with a direct reporting line into the Chief China Economist.

Key Responsibilities:

- Be engaged in rigorous economic research and analysis

• Publish research reports outlining our cyclical and structural views on the Chinese economy
• Conduct modelling and forecasting
• Interact frequently with institutional clients
• Undertake research projects as and when necessary

• Bilingual communication skills in spoken and written English and Mandarin (native or near native-level) a must
• A strong qualification in Economics or equivalent; a post graduate degree advantageous
• A deep knowledge of the Chinese economy
• At least 3-5 years of work experience with a financial institution, a government body or a think tank
